DON’T EXPECT WHEELERS OFFROAD TO OWN UP TO A MISTAKE

PSA: Don’t expect Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc to own up to their mistake.

I purchased a set of cam tab gussets from them on March 5th after calling them on March 2nd to ask whether or not the 05-15 cam gussets fit the 3rd gen. I called them because I could not find anything on their site that was 3rd gen specific. I was told on the phone that they were for the 05 and up Tacoma’s so I completed my order on the following Monday. I even noted on my order that I drive a 2016 TRD OR.

I received the cam tab gussets and this past Sunday went to @Timbo's Customs to have them installed. After welding them up and removing the stock cam tabs we realized that the holes were too small for the cam bolts and the tabs were too close together because the 3rd gen cams are larger.

Yesterday (Monday) I emailed Wheelers to let them know the problem and sent them a copy of the invoice that clearly shows 05+ and my year model of truck. They are denying that they made any error and are refusing any sort of refund for their mistake and the complete waste of my time and Tim’s time. They also claim that my invoice from them shows different info than what their order system shows. How does that happen?

They ultimately told me that I screwed up and ordered the wrong part. How is it that I screwed up when I ordered the item based on what they told me?

I will never deal with Wheelers Offroad again and I cannot in good faith recommend anyone to them either.

How does that happen?

 

It is what it is at this point and I’m not worried about $100. I just want them to admit they dropped the ball with QA on the order.

 

I had a good interaction with them and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But until @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc makes light of this, I won’t be ordering from them.

 

Invoice says 05 and up. That was a bunch of bs having to do a shit ton of work. @allenfab had to bring over a special bit to open them up then we had to cut them up once they were installed because they didn’t fit the cam bolts. Had to cut the tabs off and make new ones. What takes normally 2 hours took 6 hours because of this.

 

I do agree completely that wheelers dropped the ball, but man it would have helped a lot by checking on the manufacturer first. Either way, I hope this leads to something positive.

 

We read that info after everything was cut off because it said 05 plus. Learned a lesson check everything even if it says it fits. Got it back together.

 

Tried called by TC on March 2nd and could get anyone on the phone so i called Wheelers.

 

Total Chaos recently added the 16+ Tacoma application to the 10+ 4runner/FJC part # 59860-10FJ. Until then, they had the 59860 for all the earlier Taco's. We have the correct parts listed on our site for 16+ Tacoma which is the 59860-10FJ. Our site is up to date but our internal book-keeping program still said 05+ but that piece of paper was only delivered with your shipment in your box- your online order confirmation that you received first had the correct application info on it. Please show that to the members, the one you emailed us today. You ordered the wrong parts and welded them on your truck before letting us know something was wrong. Your order confirmation plainly showed the parts you ordered being for 05-15. We have a very lenient return and remedy policy but there's not a ton we can do for you after you've welded them on your truck. You want to keep the parts and get a FULL refund, it just doesn't work that way. We're very sorry your order went sideways, we want everyone to be happy. We were happy to work with you still on a partial credit or an in-house credit but a full refund on parts you ordered in error without any parts returned to us won't happen.

 

YOUR WEBSITE ON MARCH 2ND DID NOT HAVE ANY LISTINGS FOR 2016+, NOR DID THE TOTAL CHAOS WEBSITE!

How many times do I have to tell you that? It is the sole purpose I called YOU to ask about them.

I’m not interested in a credit or refund at this point.

What does it say at the very bottom? Why did no one at Wheelers catch that?

Being that I was out of the country when this e-mail came in, I likely didn’t read the whole thing because I trusted that the information YOU provided to me via my telephone call was correct.

 

The truck was not moving. Had to do something to get going. Had to Fab your screw up to get it rolling again.
