Just installed a new draw tite front trailer hitch from e trailer on my 2018 4 by 4. I am buying a new boat and will use this hitch to move boat around.

Pushing trailers with a front hitch is a lot easier.

Seems like learning how to back a trailer would’ve been the better option

Damn some people just don't get it I guess... If you've ever used one like this, you would understand people install them on trucks..

I'm almost certain that wasn't his reasoning when he did it. I'm sure he wasn't like "hey I have a truck and money, I should put a front hitch on it. "

If there is an actual good reason for it, that's what I was shooting for. Not your random statement of the day.

I believe he stated the reason in the OP. To move his boat around.

What benefit does the front hitch offer is the piece you're failing to answer. Is it easier to maneuver, is it better for tight spaces, etc?

My wife's '00 TJ Wangler has a Tomken front hitch bumper, my '94 K2500 Suburban had a Curt front hitch, and I have a Mobtown recovery bar on order for the TRD. Moving trailers is easier with the front hitch as the front wheels are turning at the tounge. Hard to describe. Yes, I can back them up if I want to.

And if you need to have a winch, but do not want it hard mounted, it's the way to go.

Downside with the OPs hitch is it lowered the approach for off roading.

Much easier for tight spaces, especially if you do not have a lot of backing experience.
You can watch the sides and direction of travel right in front of you and not get disoriented.

I feel like everyone is missing the point. A front receiver can be used for way more than pushing a trailer around! Could tow an RV and still have room for a bike rack in front, for example. Or insert a winch, a plow, a cargo platform, etc. versatility. Or a fishing pole rack.

Sure looks weird though, also adds a "bulkier" look to the otherwise simple Taco front end (sarcasm) wonder if it adds any protection?

My garage is down hill from house and difficult to get into. Also as others have mentioned has a lot of other uses.

    Good for you!

I have an 8ft wide 3rd driveway running next to my garage that I can't back fully into unless I drive into the grass. I need your setup

I like the front hitch... I personally dont like how much ground clearance you loose. But if a front hitch is more important than ground clearance to you, than it looks good to me!

Does the skid plate need to be removed? Thanks

Love seeing the confusion on this site when somebody actually dares to add real-life utility to their trucks.

does it really effect ground clearance? , I believe the air dam that comes stock on all 3rd gens does hang a touch lower then that hitch . its steel as well unlike our stock bumper . im sure the hitch will take a hit pretty well from front or from underneath , also I can see people using a winch with it as well that can be removed and used when needed , so no need for a aftermarket bumper that will make your front end droop even with aftermarket suspension seems like a smart idea .

Only to install then put back on. This hitch should make the front end of truck a lot stronger. I think it is no lower than the plastic air dam that must be removed. No drilling or any permanent mods required to install.
