Welcome fellow machinist. Subbed for this rebuild! Maybe I'll learn a thing or two.

How do you fill these up at a regular fueling station? Diesel pumps won't fit in a gasoline fill opening.

Awesome! LCE offers upgraded pistons, and the rods are already drop forged. Good up into the 300hp tange if you feel froggy.

Not too much of an update today. I'm hoping to get the rest of the parts off tonight or tomorrow and start cleaning. I need some time to really clean the block as it's both rusted on the outside and there's stop leak in it. I think I'm going to try a detergent bath like old hot rodders. I also have some rust blast that will help on the outside.

After looking into the balance shaft delete, that is definitely happening. Easy install and way less parts to break. Plus looks like the oil squirter is a better setup for the chain anyway.

I'm still unsure if I'm going with lc for the basic rebuild parts. I'm really curious how the yota shop parts compare since it includes bearings for the price of LC's stock pistons and head kit. Unless the yota shop ones are not the hypereutectic pistons.

Let me know if anyone knows.

Cool to see the 2tr-fe taken apart! It really is a great engine and well suited to the tacoma. I'm on my second tacoma withe the 2tr-fe, it just seems like the best value, and the low end torque is adequate. Especially with the addition of an LCE header. MPG is decent on the 2tr as well. I'm looking forward to doing a re-gear, supposedly that makes the truck perform even better.

Got the crank shaft out today. Looks to be in great shape. I'll know once I mic it.

I'm just going to take it all to work. We have great machines there so I can do anything but cam and crank work.

I did the balance shaft delete on my old 2tr and it ran smooth as stock. I would recommend considering I did the mod because the tensioner snapped and cause the chain to pull on the balance shaft and a weird angle and caused it to mess up the oil jet for the shaft and lost oil pressure. So take them out and you won't have the same issue I did.

If you can swap out a motor, you can probably figure out a fuel filler :sawzall:
