@OVTune I look forward to giving you my hard earned money in the fall when I get my ride. I've been following your efforts and I cannot wait to get it all together!

Do any of these updates effect performance? Such as throttle smoothing?

Just got a customer satisfaction survey from Toyota. Absolutely roasted them on the stock engine and transmission tune. OVTune is still our little secret.

OK, I'm going to put this out there -

I'm on the M/T test tune right now that includes Mat's original throttle smoothing solution. No idea if the upcoming file in M/T (or the A/T version for that matter) will end up the same, but... the throttle is much more linear than it was in previous tunes, and tip in fine control is much improved. That last part may not mean much to the A/T guys, but it does on the three pedal. SOME may think this change makes the truck feel a bit more sluggish, because the throttle plate isn't swinging open at breakneck speed with the slightest touch. As I said, more linear. Yes you have to push on the pedal more. Don't lose your mind please. Besides, this is an optional file.

Automatic here. I for one hope for more subtle throttle tip in. With several hundred miles on 1.03 87, that "digital" tip in has improved some, but still not as refined as the stock tune tip in. WOW, I actually found ONE thing on the stock tune that is better than OVTune :boom:

@OVTune Latest optional release was done with stock tires? Or you still rolling on ProComp?

Flash 91 tune, check out that tip-in for a little while then reflash 87 (after a lot of miles, mind you - heed OV's warnings..) and you'll think the tip-in is perfect. All about perspective... ha!

Drove my wife’s ‘16 Volvo XC90 a few hundred miles this weekend. She laughed at me for the first hundred as I babied the throttle off the line like I have to in this truck. After I got used to it, I really long for the same pedal response in my Tacoma.

Perspective indeed! I actually am planning to flash optional release with 91 octane. Will fill up today with 91.

If I remember correctly, all OV tunes prior to 1.03 (automatic) have stock shift logic for gear 1-2, which I had no issues with. But the 1.03 tune with TCU update just felt too "on/off" regarding throttle tip in, for me. I've had 1.03 87 on the truck for 35 days now, and I still can't get used to it.

Regardless, hopefully the new optional release will resolve this!

Ok Gentlemen, anyone feeling like doing their good deed of the day by catching me up on the latest info? I had to take a break from the thread and left off about 45 pages ago. I checked in on OV’s posts. What I’ve gatherred is that there is a new flash manager and an updated tune. Is that the jest of it, or am missing anything?

Mat's posts sum up anything important... new flash manager with optional update for 1.03 available by this weekend to help w/ idle, smoothing of throttle, and 3-4 gear shift. Aside from that, lots of fictional talk of magical turbos Mat's going to give away to the with the most clever jokes :)

I have to say that I love the 87 tip-in as it is.

I've been on the 87 for only a week, and both my wife and I have had no issues with it and am baffled as to why a few people are having issues with it. Then again, I absolutely despited the stock tip-in (amoung other things) and do not want to go back to it. Ever. Not even somewhere in between. :)

Thanks! Thats the exact answer i was looking for. I figured this was the case but wanted to make sure i wasnt wrong. I think i will like this update as after much driving on 1.03 i agree with others as the initial tip in of the trottle is very sensative and ends up being a jerky transition when driving around and letting off throttle and going back into it. Guess ill take this optional update!

I really hate to say it, but I think y’all that are having throttle problems aren’t feathering the throttle. You shouldn’t ever completely lift except for to transition the brake pedal. My wife has this problem where she’s either applying throttle pressure or none at all. You’ve got to adapt to lifting lightly where your foot/sole remains in contact with the skinny pedal. Takes patience and practice but makes a world of difference.

I really like the throttle tip in, sure it’s sensitive but it really takes away a lot of the drive by wire lag. It’s like driving an older vehicle with an actual throttle linkage.

Really liking Mat’s work, just need 4.88s now.

Well when you are coming into a corner most people completely let off the throttle and then go back into it when they come out of the corner and when you come back into it the transition is jerky unless you are very lightly applying throttle. Thats just one of a few scenarios but everyone to their own. The update is optional afterall

@OVTune Also an issue i am having when turning any corners the rpms bump up because of the power steering pump and when i go to give it gas most of the time it will fall flat on its face for a second then the power comes back on. I hope i am describing that correctly?
