No i don't really need a garnish, as my radar sits behind the grille and is protected, i will look into it a bit more if there is a better way to protect it but i think im fine without it.

There is two nice holes in the 17 garnish that a rock could get through to the sensor. The radar sensor is around $700. A $50 garnish to protect a $700 radar sensor seems like a good investment.

I want the 17 TRD Pro Grill for my 17 TRD Sport but im not sure if i have the sensor that you all are talking about. I just don't want to spend the almost $400 for the grill and then it mess with the sensor! Can anybody post a picture of the sensor where it is installed at so i can check on my truck and I will know if I have to have the garnish to cover the sensor or not. Thanks alot for the info. Also this is the grill i found on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Tacom...1935798&sr=1-1&keywords=trd+pro+grille+tacoma

We don't have the TSS on our 17s, you are good to go with that 17 Grille.

Well i finally found me a garnish for my TSS and it did not fit my aftermarket pro grille, however i did manage to drill some holes and use rebar tie wire to hold it in place :)

There is another longer thread as well, but since people keep asking the same questions, and it's not all in one post. If you have a 2018 and want to install the TRD Pro Grille, here are the parts:

PT228-35170 or PT228-35180 - Grille, TRD PRO (170 will require removing the dummy garnish cover, 180 requires no work); get whichever you can for the cheapest you can find (or aftermarket if you must...)
53141-35060 - Garnish Cover, TSS Sensor
    90183-06044 - Spring Nut/Washer (Qty: 2)
88214-04020 - Wire, TSS Sensor (Optional)

Also of note, the TSS sensors themselves are different part numbers between TRD PRO and non-TRD PRO trucks, 88210-04020 is the TRD PRO sensor. Not sure on the functional differences, but they seem to mount the same. Calibration is recommended.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
There is so much incorrect feedback in here...

    - the glossy/shiny garnish is for ‘18 pro grills, knock off or OEM.

    - it is absolutely needed, not only for protection from debris building up over time between the sensor and grill (I.e dirt/dust/snow, but notice it is FLAT. This is to evenly distribute the radar. The honeycomb plastic piece is for ‘16 and ‘17 grills, that’s don’t have TSS sensors. A sensor mounted behind the honeycomb plastic trap door will not distribute radar evenly and will have lots of deflection.

    - not all Chinese or non-oem grills were created equally, some do not have the right slits for a glossy garnish to pop in while others DO! It used to be luck of the draw but most eBay listings now show the picture of the garnish “area” and what you are getting, especially if they advertise 2018 in thier title. They will all come with the honeycomb plastic piece, but if this is going to be for a 2018, you will need to order the glossy/flat garnish from the dealer to pop in, you better believe it.

    - there is a reason behind the madness on why toyota engineers designed the 2018 pro grill with the glossy garnish piece guys, think about it. Or else they would’ve just kept everything the same from the previous TRD PRO grill.

I see this was asked before but it is still unanswered - Anyone have calibration performed by the dealer and if so, what was the approximate cost?

That cost will vary at many dealerships but you shouldn't be paying more than one hour labour time.
