Most oems require higher standards on oem part quality control. It's why say a parts store denso part is not the quality of a denso Toyota part.

That is not correct. I work for a major parts manufactiurer and they all are run on the very same production lines using the same standards.

OEM for me. I got 139,000 out of my original set (manual transmission), and I haven't rear ended anyone yet.

... I haven't noticed braking difference, is what I should have said.
Lifetime warranty could be a scam, but both part's dudes said warranty covers wear - if they wear evenly. They said bring in the parts with the receipt.
we'll see. However, I took a look at my parts history and miss-spook in that I got OReilly pads for our Lexus and Wagner QS front pads for the Taco.

Akebono makes the stock OE pads and I believe the TRD are Brembo.

I'm running O'Reilly ceramics, I have shims and greased everything appropriately, the squeel a little, just enough to drive me crazy.

Typically I run OE Toyota and don't use the shims and have no problems. Bite and fade resistance is better with the OE's too.

I was trying to save a buck since I plan to upgrade to the 2017 4runner front rotors and calipers, they're a touch larger, I'll be going with OE pads then.

I went back to OE pads and rotors the last time I did my brakes a couple of years ago. Prior to that, was running Hawk rotors and some highly acclaimed ceramic pads I read about on some forum (don't remember which ones in particular). Much happier with OE than I was with the previous set up.

I've got 147k on my OEM setup. Think I'm gonna change the front and rears out for new OEM again just for good measure. I have no need to change them yet but surely they are at about that time by now with the added weight I've put on the rig.

Ive ran EBC YellowStuff, GreenStuff, and now Rock Auto pads.. have only used EBC Dimpled and slotted rotors. Out of all of those, yellow was the most $, green a little less, and Rock Auto was $13 for the front pads..

I think If I were to try again with those, Id do GreenStuff

If this is true than the oem must use the higher quality parts available from that part supplier. So many times I've went to buy the "oem" equivalent part and it was low quality compared to oem part pulled off vehicle. Most recently my wife's older Ford Expedition developed a misfire. I bought the motorcraft equivalent coil for $80 and it looked completely different than oem. It failed in one month. Got replacement and it started misfiring in a few months again. Spent $250 on oem and it was good till I sold it.

The only part I've gotten that was good quality compared to oem was the denso o2s they sell at parts stores. Those have done well. But I've had very bad luck with some parts recommended as the "oem supplier" but sold at parts store for half the price. Something about that toyota bag. Lol.

Well it depends on what you are calling an "OEM Equivalent". It could be made by a different manufacturer and be an OEM Equivalent. I work for Bosch and we make OEM fuel injectors and Aftermarket fuel injectors the only difference is the markings on the injector.

It would not be cost effective to have a separate standard and assembly process for the same parts depending on who is buying them.

I would assume your not going to get any better performance unless you go with a race compout thats more agressive. they will wear faster and create more dust but all depends on what the end goal is. I swapped brakes out for 5th gen 4runner and currently run OEM pads but will change to yellow or green EBC pads or at least initial plan.
