I’ve had a clunk in the steering wheel on certain bumps since I bought the truck with 36k miles. I just completed the zip tie fix which firmed the steering up and that clunk is gone. The problem is I now feel a clunk lower in the steering column. I believe I feel it more now that the top end is tightened up. There isn’t any vibration felt through the tires.

Sorry I have no idea how to upload a video or I would. I’m using a iPad or iPhone if anyone can help me with that?

I just jacked the front up and gave the tires a couple pulls and pushes to try to see if anything is loose. I couldn’t get it to make any kind of clunking noise. Before the zip tie mod I could hear a noticeable clunk when pushing and pulling on the tires. I looked at the steering column where the zip tie is and it had a little slop so I threw another zip tie on but on the opposite side.

Hopefully that takes care of it.

Your on the right track. I always use zip ties and duct tape. I have solved many problems with this approach. Every once and awhile I will have to pull out the bailing wire, but that is an extreme case.
