What do you think is a fair asking price for this set of shelves?

This is a big, sturdy, hand-made set of shelves. The base and shelves are made of 3/4" plywood. The shelves are 1.5" thick. There is a stainless steel flashing on the bottom pedestal. The support columns are stainless steel sleeves over solid wooden cores. The bottom shelf is 10' long, and 40" at its widest. The bottom shelf is 19" high. The second shelf is 15" high. The next two are about 12" high. The top shelf is just over 6' from the floor. The labels all peel off. It is held together with cabinetry screws and lag bolts. And I'm not asking what you specifically would be willing to pay for it, but more like, what do you think a carpenter or cabinet maker or whatever would charge to make a shelf like this? I think a minimum of 13 sheets of 3/4 plywood went into this thing. Thanks for your input

That's definitely a question for the builder. Could be anywhere from $250 - $2500 or more depending on who builds it. It's one of those pieces that you see sell high new as a custom build for a specific spot and then sold cheap cause it's too heavy to take with and doesn't quite fit where a squared shelf would. Perfect for retail with large floor plans and round counters.

I calculated around $1200 just in materials, so I'm not sure how it would ever be less than that. It would be three times that if it was salvaged materials, because hipsters.

It was the perfect set of circumstances. Found a guy who is moving from out of state to a town about 2.5 hours from me. He's a collector of various things and needs a nice shelf to display his items. He realized it was easier to buy something locally than to move something 1000 miles, and realized buying something used is much better than ordering something new. I see it as a win-win.
