I don't have any experience with any Chemical Guys stuff but a lot of people swear by them. I am happy with what I can buy at Walmart or Autozone. I use Meguiars Ultimate wash and waxes. I bought some more quick shine today. I almost bought some tire shine but laughed and walked away from the shelf. I found that 3M Adhesive Remover too at Autozone. Not cheap, $13.00 but if it works safely then it is worth every penny.

For drying I use a microfiber drying towel. It is like 2' x 2' and one side is fine and the other is super fine. It holds a lot of water. I have learned over the years, wet these towels first. Dry, they can do damage, even the softest of them. Mine will get the bulk off the entire truck, then I wring it out. Then I hit it again, wring then follow up one last time. if you want (even though some guys are opposed) you can also break out a electric leaf blower for all the nooks and crannies. I learned that trick with my Harley's. Water will wait up under something until you put everything away and are sitting there with a cold beverage admiring your hard work and then like magic, water will start dribbling out of places. Drives me nuts so I use the leaf blower. Get the cheapest one you can find. But definitely electric. Not gas. I know the gas units are sealed and nothing should mix with the air but I don't trust them.

For some reason I thought you linked me that chemical guys towel a month or 2 ago when I was asking around in here about what guys use to dry their trucks. Anyway, yea it's a decent sized microfiber towel, but it got soaked quickly and basically couldn't dry anymore.

The one I got from Wal-Mart is thicker and was able to dry the rest of the truck by itself. I didn't wet it first, and I'm pretty sure it didn't do any damage. What towel are you referring to that you use?

Thought about using the leaf blower, but not sure I really need to at this point. I did buy that goo gone automotive adhesive remover last weekend when I got my heat gun. Hopefully it works as advertised with no clear coat damage

I can't find the exact one. But regardless what you get, you will have to wring it out. Likely a couple times. Unless the towel is like 4' x 4' there is just too much water to be absorbed without doing that LOL. In the old days, us older guys would use a Shammy (spelled Chamois) and they were made out of leather. Very thin untreated buckskin. They were super expensive. But they held a lot of water. My microfiber does just as good. I also have a "waffle weave" drying towel. It works great too. Just like this:

The only Con I have with this one is, sharp objects snag it easily. It feels a little rough too. It's great at drying but because of these two things I moved to the Window cleaning side of things.

These are all so inexpensive and I know it's hard to buy everything at once but don't limit yourself to just one drying towel, or one wash mitt. The main reason is you do not want to drop it on the ground and use it to finish, even after rinsing or shaking it off. That goes for wash mitts too. I have a couple of each. That way if you drop them you just toss them on the side until you can wash them in the wash machine. Micro particles of dirt, or larger particles of grit will get on there and then you are screwed. I use a huge bucket too, with as much water as possible. I always wash my wheels and running boards last. When I run all my mitts and towels, both for washing for glass cleaning through the washing machine I never use fabric softener or dryer sheets. That will leave a film and when you use them you are transferring that film to your vehicle. If you use a brush on a handle to reach the roof, windshield, back window or hood then I suggest buying a cheap tall kitchen trash can instead of the bucket. The brush will not fall out of there like it can out of a bucket, pluss the handle is always easier to get at.

I am ultimately going to build a washing station out of a cart from Harbor Freight. I am going to disassemble my pressure washer and mount it up on there and then have all my supplies on one mobile location. Right now I have to pull it all out from the various places and put it all back. I want to just be able to wheel the cart out, hook up the electric and water and go to it.

You have to share your mobile washing station solution once you get it all together! Sounds like a great idea and I'm not sure why I haven't done something like that either! lol I've sure wasted plenty of time gathering everything I needed and getting it all out to the driveway, but this idea sure would help.

 

Just drives me nuts getting everything out piece by piece and putting it back the same way.
