Hondo Garage's New Thing

The Panel Glow lighting will be an optional upgrade. The full kit will be $325 and will include two dimmable upper lights and one dimmable lower light, and four USB charge ports, one on each side in the tent and one on each side accessible from the side panels on the lower. The system projects light into the floor and roof panels for a really nice interior glow that can be made very dim or bright enough to read by. That cost will include everything, including the required wiring harness. The aluminum light rails are powder coated to match the tent frame rails. Each light rail has it's own on/off dim knob that will be very familiar to anyone with a set of Hondo garage radio knobs

Oh shit. That's a baller lighting system! Ugh... it's going to be hard to resist adding that option.

 

We figured dome lights are cheap and easy for people to buy and install if they want them, so we're focused on building the best possible lighting system that takes advantage of the translucent nature of the panels and gives a really nice diffused light with clean wiring and USB built in.

 

That system sounds awesome. Will it be an option at build time or a retrofit?

 

It's designed to allow for retrofit, so it can be added after purchase. But if it's ordered before purchase it will come installed. However, we might not have the lights fully ready before the first dozen or so campers go out.

 

I was talking to Graeme on the phone just now--thanks, Graeme, for answering all my questions; appreciate the time and transparency! I was asking about the insulation and heater kit as add-ons. He suggested I post the questions so those interested can chime in or raise further questions. I was interested in how the heating system will be fitted, i.e., mounted off the bed to accommodate drawers and if it will have a set location? Graeme offered his thoughts--Propex heater, likely movable/mountable off bed--but said someone else from GFC would jump on the question. Ok, my work is done.
