Ok... so I have spent months doing research and searched every suspension thread I can find on the gen3 Tacoma, and I’ve still some questions I can’t seem to find an answer for.

    1. How much wheel travel does a typical high quality mid travel suspension set up have?

    2. How much travel do you need for a top notch overland build? Keep in mind that money is not an issue and I want an overland rig that I can take anywhere I want without problems. I am not, however looking build a truck for desert racing. Jumping sand dunes is not my goal.

    3. What kits are you avid overland guys running? With specs and type of terrain you typically take your trucks please.

I guess what I’m asking is what is the best overland build suspension you can get without going overboard. I am thinking of an Icon stage 6 but am not sure if that is exactly what I need and figured I would ask some questions before dumping $5k on suspension.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

    1. varies, look at extended length vs collapsed length, of course your going to sit probably 1-1.5" above extended length.
    2. depends on what you plan on doing.
    3. what can you afford....1k to 10k.

Not mine...but it's the one I'm getting. I want the J66 instead of U402 Deavers, though.
