This is true if comparing an Access Cab (6' bed) to a Double Cab Short Bed (5' bed). The often forgot about Double Cab long bed (6' bed) has an extra 12" of wheel base, and that would push the forward most point of the camper back another 12"...unless you guys have a special super xtra-long DCLB version to give an even longer sleeping platform, but then you'd need the tent to be a foot longer too so I doubt that is the case.

But don't forget about the old single cabs, those are even shorter! You'd likely be rocking a full time sun visor with the camper on one of those.

Thanks to @theREDwonder for the clarification, now I get what @inv3ctiv3 was referring to with the distance to the windshield - I do have a double cab long bed, so in this case the distance to the windshield will be longer - as @Overlanerd points out - "the overhang is shorter on the LB"

Wondering if you guys have any LB models in the works? - would be nice to see photos of the LB version.

Great point! We were just addressing access cabs. So +/- 29” between the top of the windshield to the nose of the overhang. Looks like the DCSB guys will have enough room for a small roof rack

The distance from the cab wall to the overhang is 12” shorter on the long bed model. We’d rather show you an actual product than a Solidworks rendering or cut file, and we’ll be posting that in the coming weeks.

    Apologies for the confusion.

The roof and tent are the same length for the DCSB, AC, & DCLB.

The lower portion/ shell is 12” longer for the long bed, so the overhang is shorter.

With the access cab, and DCSB, the distance from the top of the windshield to the nose of the overhang is roughly the same.

With the DCLB, the roof/ nose of the camper moves 12” further back. So there is more exposed roof over the cab.

I’ll support my crappy explanation with even crappier sketches I just made on my phone. ;)

This is really like an adult version of an Easter scavenger hunt. Granted if we all wait a month the info will get posted eventually. But waiting and being patient:angrygirl: is hard...

Realistically the demand right now is outpacing the supply. I'm sure once things calm down and they get some more orders fulfilled that more official details will be posted online.

Vagabond has been pretty good about updating their thread too. Alot of their details aren't evening coming from them, but rather those lucky enough to have picked them up.

    Thanks for linking the video!

Definitely noted! We will launch our full site and start taking orders in the coming weeks. Full specs will be listed at that time, and we will add more details to the first post on the specs & facts thread in our Vagabond Outdoors vendor forum.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-drifter-specs-and-faq.540826/#post-17469321

Please keep in mind that, although we’ve been at this for well over a year, we went public 2.5 weeks ago. And currently have 3 Drifters bombing through Mojave.
    :burnrubber:

We’ll update the specs in short order to help answer questions, but have been focused on building campers lately.

    Well, today didn’t suck.

It did get a little windy, so the clear vinyl windows needed to be zipped up.

I was following an FJ40 and an SAS’d Toyota truck that were both struggling to get to this point. Deep snowdrifts. I struggled as well, but made it.

Looks great. I see there's a roof bar option. Think it could handle some mountain climbs with kayaks?

They quoted it at 500lbs without popping the top and 100lbs to pop the top with gear still on.

Right on. Didn't know if that was intended as a static or dynamic load rating. I.e. highway miles vs bouncing off waterboards.

I would say since their slogan is "PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEXT CORNER, NOT YOUR CAMPER" then it should be designed to worst case scenario. Since it's their product I'm sure they back anything they designed and built. Wouldn't worry much about it. There is also going to be a walk-able roof deck they will be making I heard, but no other info as of now.
