    Don't quote me....

But I believe the younger is only available at the brewery for approx 2 weeks in February. Usually about the time super bowl is going down!

    ^^^Pretty sure you're correct.

I just moved to the area and need to see what Pliny is all about!

I’ve always found Pliny to be overrated - a number of years ago it was one of the few really good IPA’s on the market - Now, especially here in Colorado, breweries are everywhere and they are building some killer Hazy IPAS, Sessions, Double, and Saturday I had a triple IPA - My point is that IPA’s became hugely popular recently and thus Pliny has had much more competition.

It’s interesting to see this thread. I finally tried PTE at GABF last year and thought it was good but not this end all be all GOAT of an IPA. It had been so hyped up for years and when I finally tried it, it was just good.

Yeah, I think in general microbreweries have stepped up their game a lot since Pliny first came out and while it is a really good IPA, there are a lot of other really good ones out there.

EDIT: This being a homebrew forum, I should also mention that I've brewed a Pliny clone that my local homebrew shop (Defalco's) sells and it came out fantastic.

I have had many brand and varieties of IPAs. Pliny the Elder is by far one of my absolute favorites. I found some on the north coast and bought several bottles since I cannot find them locally.

every time I go to San Diego I grab a few to bring home... with Covid , who knows when I will get back there. There are lots of good IPAs around home now that the whole microbrewery thing has been opened up... I think we not have more breweries and cideries than coffee shops and that's saying something...

It’s wonderful. Over-hyped, but still great.
