    Your theory in my mind is sound. But again I am just an old fool so what do I know. :D
    Meh the less connections the better. If you have to remove the bumper it's typically 3 nuts and possibly a quick disconnect wire already. No need for this.

    @thefatkid

    So what I'm getting is have my starter battery without a breaker or fuse and tie in the winch to that line. Just make sure that line is extra protected. That wire being a 0 guage wire.

    Then the second battery with a breaker going to the aux fuse box for everything else I might add to the truck. Now that second Battery for the aux stuff would a 2 guage be fine for that?

    If that’s all the stuff on the starting batter I wound think youd be fine with 0 gauge minimum.
    Now for the aux battery, is it going to be directly linked to the starting battery? Or go through a relay of some sort?

    They might make different types but the one i had came with metal ends that you solder onto the wire, then you push it into the connector and it snaps in and is supposed to stay in there. But one didn't.

    I'll have a https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001VIXLRO added. Thinking putting this in the bed next to the batteries to keep the wire runs short and using the left over 0 gauge I'll get. But the main run from the back of the bed to the aux fuse box up front I'm hoping to use the 2 guage I have now. If it's good enough.

    define "nice" :D

    There is a park and trail across the street, though. I don't know for sure but I think it's a 5 bed 2 bath house built around 1985. No clue how updated it is.

    I think your 2 gauge will be good then, as long as your not going to be putting a lot of load on it. Ie bunch of light bars, mega sound system, etc Once you run the lines compare the voltage at the stud of the alternator to the main battery to the aux fuse block. As long as it’s almost no voltage drop youll be golden. For the aux wire a circuit breaker Shound be as close as possible to the aux battery.

    Personally I wound not put a breaker or fuse in between the batteries. This allows you to use the aux to self jump start.

    I just want to 2nd this, Long ago I experienced a run away Winch and funny how everyone reacts the same, Start beating the solenoid with a rock or branch. When mine finally gets wired up I will have a shut-off too.

    For those not familiar with this search Youtube for plenty of videos of this.

    There are other connectors that don't work like Brandon described, and my Grampa taught me always give a connector a wrap of Duct tape just in case :D

    Got my alignment done at RSG the other day. They informed me that my LCA bushings are seized. I think they got pretty good numbers considering that and stock UCA's.
