Looking into getting a Bed Rack/roof top tent for my 2012 SR5 DBL cab Tacoma.

Tips/recommendations welcome & Appreciated. Tacoma is new to me and has no modifications as of yet.

Ideally a rack that is easily installed/uninstalled so I can remove when not going on a camping trip.

    Thanks

Just get a set of bed bars. 4 bolts each to take them off and you can easily do it alone. Choose a manufacturer and order them. There are a few to choose from

Before I had a trailer I had my tent on bed bars.

When I got the trailer I made the bed bars into a mini bed rack.

Many options out there now. I just bought a CVT Mt Shasta and it is amazing. They also give military discounts, Used it in dispersed camping area just outside Grand Canyon. Decide on how much you want to spend. Several companies out there, i would stay away from the Yakima roof tents. Okay in dry hot weather, not so much in wet or cooler weather. Reviewers have complained of leaks. Bed rack is the way to go. I have mine on my Leer top. Exposed gear is why i didn't choose the bed rack route.

Just bought the CBI Overland bed rack and a Tepui. No complaints here. Rack is high enough that I can still fit everything I need for 10 days out in the bed.

They're Depot tail lights. I only replaced them because I dropped one in my driveway and broke it when I cut for my high clearance bumper. The Dopot lights were considerably less expensive than one OEM light.

LED's are wired with relay harnesses and in cab switches.

Cool ty. I have 2 spyder headlights waiting on front bumper to be replaced before they get installed. Heard about SPOD and thought since ill be running 3-4 sets plus rock lights i might need something like that. Also, what power mods you think are most cost effective with the heavier truck? i just have a AFE CAI and a catback Banks exhaust atm. After bumpers with spare tire, fuel cans, water, camp gear along with roof tent. Gonna be a fat body.

I don't want to jack this thread... but, only thing you're gonna do to get more power is a supercharger. Period.

I would recommend VOODOO rack. bolts together (so shipping is way cheaper). very strong and sturdy considering it's a bolt on and very light. awning and RTT mount perfectly. I would also recommend the tall version just to give more room for the bed.

Hey how do you mount your awning directly to your KB Voodoo rack?
