Sure its best to have the right tool! I heard differents opinions about tourniquets tho, some say that it can cause more harm than not having used it, if you don't use it properly, because blood can't circulate to other bodyparts. But again, you have to know how to use your stuff

brake cleaner does a better job power wash the wound and then tape it!

Obligatory plot twist.........I was once a first responder and have a first aid kit with amputation kit in it.

 

I always thought the same thing until my wife taught me some stuff about it. When properly applied tourniquets are the superior method! I think people are just scared of them and don't learn because they assume using a tourniquet=losing a limb

 

My wife just learned how to amputate someone the other day. Had to practice on a pig leg

 

Its like those little saws you put a finger thru each ring on the end and work it back and forth. Its a pretty archaic field tool. I always wanted to use it on a deer or something tho to see how well it works.

 

She said it was surprisingly easy. Should I be worried?

There is literally just a little saw they use called a gilgi saw that's a wire hand saw and it cuts right through everything really easily, it's pretty interesting.
