Since you look like the guy on the R6 i'm presuming.. i'll be nice and say go ahead and swap that oil out at 10k...0w-20is fine. fully synthetic of course. if its your daily driver and you driving conditions aren't below freezing. your gonna be okay. i too live in the bay area and drive back to school in Fairbanks Alaska. i change oil every time i drive back. not being an asshole.. but you fucked up and got a 4x2 and limited your capability to staying on road buddy. however if its just to be used to transport your track bike then i guess thats cool too.

There is all kinds of them here.. just look around. Save you some time... every single one of them say the same thing... perfect, oil is good, no wear, etc. All from Blackstone and some of them are out to 50K by now.

I use olive oil. Sometimes canola in a pinch. Never covcoco or palm. Extra virgin of course.

I sent a sample to Blackstone on my last change, they recommended that I go with 7000 Mile OCI. Also had Pennzoil or Valvoline in there which they told me has strange attitives that mimic antifreeze but they assured there was none in the oil.

I just did mine last night at 1150 miles with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 $27.98 5 qt + $9.18 for the additional quart at Walmart. I only used this since the Valvoline 0w20 was out of stock. I will have Toyota do the next change at 10k.

If you still have your receipt you can get a $12 Rebate for the Mobil 1, just go to their website as they usually have that offer a couple times a year.

YES!!! Toyota, as most of the vehicle manufacturers have brown faces from EPA ass kissing to comply with emission control standards. 2-3 days ago EPA announced that the standards imposed on manufacturers were too drastic and the time demanded was too short.
The 0W-20 oil grade came to be from the guessed numbers smeared on the paper used by manufacturers to wipe off the shit off their faces after the EPA meeting and ass kissing.
I use 5W-30 and have no problems as is my truck, my choice.

I would love to use 5w30 conventional if what you say is true about the EPA. This same topic came up on the Tundra forum when I had my 16' Tundra and there were several guys that said the bearing tolerances that needed the thinner oil for proper lube. Can anyone confirm?

@Dacon , How do you know that 5W-30 is better than 0W-20 for use in your truck?
