Yeah, you can see the crimps in the joint facing the wrong way. What are those ribs? Shouldnt it just be a smooth duct?

 

Looks like the pipe was crushed to fit in the wall , perhaps around some obstructions like wiring or plumbing

 

Maybe that's the hvac equivalent of a helix throttle body spacer

 

Getting ready to get an addition poured on my patio and adding a sidewalk around the house This will require relocating a downspout underground to a pop up emitter. The fastest way from A-B (and downhill) is directly under the sidewalk for about 35 feet. Is it ok to do that? Obviously repairs would be next to impossible but I am using solid PVC so not a french drain and keeping it clean shouldn't be a problem. Do I need to compact the ground where I lay the pipe before the concrete guy does his work or will he need to do that anyways?

 

That caught my attention too. Certainly a place for lint to collect...

Nothing there to my knowledge. But there is a cabinet installed above it. It could be mounting screws from that. I’ll look at their placement when I get home.

 

I’ve never liked vertical dryer vents. They’re all lint catchers.

 

Mine is diagonal. And I vent indoors in the winter (double filter), warm moist air!

 

You vent the dryer out at the base of the wall ?

 

If it's a 2x4 wall they would have to crush the 4" pipe to fit

 

After having to fix one the other day I'm fing amazed at the garbage systems they still have.

I have the 52" , I cancelled the 105" cause the overlength freight was going to be stupid , going to pick that up at the nearest Lee Valley next time I'm near there . My CT36 came damaged , replacement coming next week

 

Basement update, worked on the bathroom floor tile today. Ran out of time and extremely sore, but the new tile saw did get put to work. Very happy with it, works great and I really appreciate the sliding table.

Tomorrow I’ll finish up setting the tile, and Friday will grout.

I can see where you might not want to in some areas that get snow. It doesn’t snow here but every 25 years or so.
