Ok I have a few friends in Oroville office. Guys I went to high school with. I have two way radios if you want to meet up Saturday for the drive.

 

I’ll let you know Friday if I’m going. Family things might stop me. If I go I’ll throw my cv on the seat

 

I have 2 meter hand helds haven't done a radio in the new Tacoma yet.

Me either I just plug into cig an throw the antenna up

 

I have beofeng handheld radios I bought two and love them. No antenna or wiring just charge turn on and talk. I use the murs channels witch are public use for ham.
It's awesome!

Any of you Redding guys been to Little Backbone Creek? My brother found some article where they list the watering hole as a spot to check out, but everything I've seen says you should boat in all the way into the back of the inlet and then hike up from there. I know you can cross Shasta Dam and then get up into the hills via Westside Rd, and that takes you approximately along Little Backbone Creek, but is there a place to stop and then hike in down from the road?? Wondering if any of the locals have some info. Thanks in advance

I know there is a few trips from OB people from cottonwood Anderson and Redding areas. I know they do day trips there. I'll try and find more info and post it.

 

I went up Backbone about 2/3weeks ago, huge rockslide took out the road about 5-6 miles deep. My buddy and I were trying to go to this lookout point. :/ not sure if there’s another way up to where you’re thinking. But right before the rockslide there’s a turnout and a short hike down into a creek that runs into Shasta. Looked pretty nice and easy to get to.

 

Hey anyone know of a good fab shop or someone i could go to to get some work done in chico?
