    If you do it cleanly, there isn't much missing. There are ways to close off the bed from water and dust - pm me if you want to hear about my idea so I don't blow up this thread. lol

    Alright so I think if someone makes a shock mount that has a disk above it with some threaded holes (like a flange) and gets this stuff:

    You can use rivnuts
    $77 Nutsert Tool Kit In Metal Case
    https://www.amazon.com/Nutsert-Tool-Kit-Metal-Case/dp/B0040CZ608 in the bed around the hole that the shock goes through to make a boot / gasket that fits around the shock. Since the distance from the bed cage to the bed is static and the shock doesn't move too much at the top, I think you wouldn't worry about a hot shock melting the stuff.

    I looked at the part number and said was 24 inches long. Could there be a spacer inside (like my Fox) that limits extension?

    I looked at King's part number list - probably the same one you were looking at and didn't find any that 8" coilovers with a reservoir that weren't 16" compressed length. Weird. I guess they may have another part number if you call them...
