I'm curious to see if anyone's Redline Hood Struts have started to fail, and how long have you had them? I know Redline has the 4-5 year warranty on these. I'm looking to get a set, hopefully on a Group Buy if they have one soon.

I've had mine for 4+ years and they are still doing great. They got dirty and started sticking eventually, but a quick cleaning and a coat of silicone lube fixed it. I would definitely buy them again, I love not having a hood prop in the way.

I'm almost 4 years in and they stick a little in the winter, but I've never had any sagging or failures. Just need a little help when it's cold out, like most of us do anyway.

I’ve had mine somewhere around 2.5-3 yrs.

At first I thought they sucked and were a waste of money. Mine took a bit to break in the strut. They initially had to have the hood raised well beyond what was acceptable to actually kick in and work.

But I’ve really grown to like them. They’ve broken in nicely and worked much better a month or so after install and when weather warmed up. Went with the middle-tier model during one of the group buys. Only big con about them is if you follow their directions for install to the T for a 2012+ 2nd gen you end up with max hood height an inch or so lower than just using the stock hood prop. Minor annoyance.

I experienced the same annoyance with break in and maximum hood height. However, I'm a short dude so over time I totally forgot that the hood opens only slightly less than stock. Having the prop out of the way is absolutely ideal now, especially after adding a compressor and lights behind the grill.

One of the best mods I ever did. They've been on my truck for maybe 8yrs and no issues so far.

I raised my front end an inch with 3rd gen front shocks so I’ve sort of compensated for max height lol. Overall though the struts were a great purchase. I forget my other vehicle doesn’t have them and almost smash my fingers thinking the hood will open on it’s own every time.

Most gas struts seem to last about 10 years. Wiping the rod with a light lubricant now and then will save wear on the seals. Mine have only been on about a year and they are fine. I love them. I can't imagine why Toyota puts a lift hood on a truck, where the lift is so high. My wife's 2008 Subaru has them from the factory.
