    Hey all,
I was doing some routine maintenance just now and ran into an issue. Just cleaned the mafs, tb and was putting in new plugs. I was slightly lifting up the intake when this black line popped. Can anyone let me know what it is and what I can do about it? Ty

That's your fuel rail pressure regulator vacuum line, rather important. Fix it asap. 1/8th inch vacuum hose.

Didn't realize you broke the nipple of the airbox at first, get a 1/8 inch barbed fitting to 1/4 inch NPT threaded nipple and carefully drill out your airbox and tap the 1/4NPT into the box.

    Problem solved.

    Nah man, you got this!!!

If you're ambitious enough to change your plugs this is well within your reach.

You can run the truck without it, it'll possibly go into limp mode and most likely get poor miles per gallon, but it won't hurt anything.

    You're looking for exactly this:
    IMG_20180406_172404.jpg

Hell, I'll mail you this one if you can't find one.

You will need a 3/8th drill bit.
    IMG_20180406_172528.jpg

And you are trying to do something like this
    IMG_20180406_172440.jpg

Course mine looks a little different as I ha e a 2013 FJ cruiser airbox...

I won’t be able to get to Napa or anywhere else on foot before they close, I’ll be picking everything up tomorrow morning when my wife gets back. Very thankful

Now worries mate! Let us know how it turns out!

Also you may have better luck looking for that brass fitting at home depot in the plumbing and or garden irrigation section vs Napa. Grab some Teflon pipe tape while you're at Home Depot, it's the white stuff on the fittings in the picture I posted above. Helps seal everything better.

If you have any trouble feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help. :)

Sounds good! So I can just thread the nipple right into the air box where the old nipple was? As in just drill the new pilot hole through there.. thread it in and put the vacuum hose on, no need for a clamp or anything just a tight fit over the nipple will suffice?

Yup! Just make sure any little plastic shrapnel from drilling gets cleaned up from the inside so it doesn't get sucked into the engine and you should be good to go.

It would burn away in no time if it ever made it that far, which I think is very unlikely, I did the same on my mazda, but only epoxied it with a pile of epoxy, and held for years.

When replacing the vacuum hose how is the old one connected to the other side(the unbroken side) another nipple that I can slide it off and replace with the new one ? I messed around with it just now and it wasn’t budging, but i was being cautious not wanting to break something else.

Yeah the diaphragm that the other end terminates on is simply a conical nipple, no clamps no barbs.

Sometimes the heat of the engine and natural shrink of the rubber causes it to be pretty stuck on there. Just work it a little and it should pop off. You can use pliers gently to twist it back and forth to get it to loosen.

I replaced mine with a silicone hose but any vacuum rated hose will do just fine.

Morning at the plumbing supply store, they didn’t have 1/8 inch by 1/4 male so i grabbed an 1/8 barb by 1/8 male and a 3/16 by 1/4 male.
Will either of these work? Is the 1/8 by 1/8 to small?

I hope the jury-rigged connection won't cause the truck to fail a smog visual inspection. It might be better (but not cheaper) to replace that plastic air-box with one from a wrecking yard.
