I'm trying to get a bed rack. It'll mainly be for light duty construction supply for misc projects around the house, and occasional recreation use. I rather not get a heavy duty contractor rack.

The Thule Xsporter seem to be a popular rack and one of the pricier ones. It seems to be mainly targeted to recreation use, and is the only model with height adjustment. Those who have this rack, how useful is it to be able to adjust height? How often are you adjusting it?

On the tacoma, it can't be lowered below the roof line without cutting the vertical supports short due to the plastic bed liner getting in the way. So it's height range is slightly above roof line to more above roof line. That doesn't seem all the useful. Or is it?

Ultimately, is it worth the money to get a Thule Xsporter vs a fixed rack for half the price?
