Daily Reminder: Tacos Still Reselling High!

I stopped by my dealership today for my 20K service and took a look around the lot.

The 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen used Tacos are still holding their value. No surprise to anyone but I thought I'd make us all happy with a reminder.

 

Price reduced. What a steal.

 

"Managers special"

Just bend over and they give it to you....

 

They cost more used than new. That's a great deal!

That's why I gave up after 6 months of looking for a used 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma. Every used Tacoma either had 150,000+ miles on it and it was still being sold for $14-20k or it had less than 150,000 miles (which was rare) and they wanted $20-24k. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money for something that has been used to that extent.

 

Bought mine new for that.

Yeah, used Tacoma's rarely make sense.

 

Asking vs. selling price. There is usually a difference. But not for select buyers.

It's pre-owned thank you very much.

 

Especially when they also want you to pay for the “over $15,000 spent on aftermarket upgrades” and are asking over the price of a brand new one. I see that quite a bit.

 

If you asked for $5K off either of those trucks and walked away, they would call you back by the end of the month to pick up the keys. They are currently sitting fat on 4x4 Tacomas, so they want to make sure that they move the new ones first.

 

It should say “The Manager is special”

 

That Manager Special one has a Manual Transmission...so come people...that alone warrants the price.

Seriously though. I understand how people would pay a high price for an older one (Gen 1 & 2) if that is what the market calls for. But can someone explain how the market for late model pre-owned Tacomas is so high? I mean are there that many people foregoing the extra $3K-$4K that it would cost to go new? Any ideas?

 

What in the heck were they thinking with those new grille styles ?
They look atrocious.
