I know I know.. new member firing off weird questions.. I swear I won't keep doing it!

    1. Does anyone by chance know the weight of the rear bedside quarter panel for the 6' bed?
An estimate is always nice, but its so hard to gauge.. if someone has by chance weighed one, I would really appreciate knowing.

    2. Im trying to build a 'flat bed' (w/ wheel wells..) that is as low as the stock bed. I really want to be able to fit 48" wide plywood sheets in between the wheel wells of said flatbed.

My general plan is to snag a composite bed from a Ford or Chevy at a junkyard with 49" spacing between the wheel wells. Ill cut the composite bed up respectively, add some steel channel underneath to make it possible to mount the new flatbed to the original 6 mounting points on the Yota... etc.

My big question is, of course, will the tires rub on the inner sides of the wheel wells given that I have widened the spacing between the wheel wells?

My logic as to why I think it is possible is as follows:

-The Tacoma has a 63.4" rear track. A 2006 Tundra (which has 49.5" width between wheel wells) has a minimum of a 64.9 rear track. 1.5" difference!

-I am perfectly fine with committing to fairly narrow tires and will not have off road suspension (if that matters)

I simply do not fully understand the rear suspension (newb), and am worried I am going to miss a very obvious detail that will cause the tires to rub on the inner side of the wheel wells from time to time.

Its a pretty ridiculous question, but maybe someone would be so kind as to help point me in the direction of all the necessary measurements I would need to take in order to confirm that this would be possible. Many thanks.

Regarding the rear quarter panel weight, I should mention that I have scrounged the forums and even spoke to the parts department at a dealer (who was super willing and tried his best), but I have come up dry.
