Key question

Only got 2. Have the exact same trim as you, 2017 TRD Sport DCSB M/T in Inferno.

I got 3 - two regular and a valet key.

 

The last time I got the Gray Valet Key was on my 08 Tacoma, wonder if that is something the Dealers decide to give or not.

 

Question for you guys.....

I went to Home Depot today to try to get a non-chip key cut, as a spare. They tired to match it to their blanks (and even had this nifty cutter / scanner machine) and said they couldn’t do it because they didn’t carry a matching blank and the machine didn’t recognize it.

Any idea where I might have some success? I’m guess Lowe’s or Ace? The HD people sounded pretty confident that all the HDs would be in the same boat

 

Maybe a Locksmith would carry a non chipped blank.

Somebody dropped of the local yellowpages in my driveway this morning, so I’ll have to take a look BECAUSE THAT STILL EXISTS haha

 

He’s full of horse shit... they have the key (for H keys). I got mine cut there. If I still had the backer, I’d give you the info. One side says Hillman, the other says 35. Hopefully that helps, as it’s Toyota’s common key. Now the ones with the push start (laser key), that’s a different story.

No shit. Ok, I’ll try another one if I happen to be going by.

 

I got a couple cut as I like to keep one in my key jar and one in my wallet. It won’t start the taco (I have been told it’s not a good idea to try, as the immobilizer is very unfriendly), but it will get you in the door and the tailgate (unless you have one of those weird separate key things). That is likely exactly where my key is anyway...
