    Doing unpaid work for a company is super tricky. It leaves them open to liability if there is a accident. So don't be offended if they don't take you up on the offer.

    This place is super relaxed about stuff like that. He lets people use the shop on weekends to work on their trucks.

    So explain that. Don't be cryptic about it. 1 day notice is really a dick move even if you are being given shit work. That's the type of behavior that makes this new generation of workers a bad reputation.

    I’m not giving him one day notice. I’m leaving the notice open. I verbally told him that I would get him through all the projects that are on my desk. That might take a month. But I did tell him that today is the last day he pays me.
