The stock system in my Tacoma is really weak. I don't need a crazy loud, expensive system. I am just looking for something that would give me a lot more volume than the stock system along with some solid bass. I was thinking that I could get away with 2 nice replacement speakers in the doors, and either an aftermarket HU or a small amp.

I basically just need some guidance, as I am new to the whole car audio scene.

What speakers would you guys recommend? Would an aftermarket HU provide enough power to get some good volume and bass?

Thanks if you read my whole post! :D

Get some baffles and do all four door speakers, convert the fronts to 6.5s. Buy a headunit, it will sound 1000 times better.

I know I can replace the 2 speakers on the bottom of the door, but can I easily replace the 2 tweeters?

Yes an aftermarket HU will help alot. Try to get one with a decent EQ so you can really turn down the bass on your door speakers to make them louder with less distortion. Not sure about the model of tacoma you have but I have an access cab. They have 6x9" in the front doors and 6.5"s in the rear half doors. If you decide to replace the front speakers, you will need to get adapters as the holes left after the OEM is removed are huge. *********.com has them.. I'm not 100 percent on the rear so I wont comment. The factory reciever, once removed will take the silver bezel with it. you will need to purchase a new one. http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-TA2053S9B-Double-Installation-Toyot/dp/B002GOFYLS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273629961&sr=8-1-catcorr

that is for the double din, single din is just as easy to find, just search tacoma installation kit on Amazon or ebay..

Your subwoofer setup is really all dependant on what kind of space and budget you have.. I'm no expert but am pretty good with car audio. Let me know if you need anything else.

I just replaced the the door speaker with infinity 5x7s and it made a huge difference. Im doing the HU this weekend. I also have a 10" kicker in the back seat with a 300w amp. The combo is working great so far. It has great highs and the bass is good to.

I have the regular cab so I only have 4 total speakers to replace.

I have heard about *********, but I was unsure of how well they take care of their customers ie: timely shipping and responses.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I think I'm going to hit up some local audio shops tomorrow and see what kind of speakers they have in stock.

And I'm hoping to avoid getting an amp or a sub, because I really don't want to drill and holes in my new baby. :)

Mr Marv is the guy you want to talk to about the baffles. You will get better sound out of a HU and stock speakers than Stock HU and different speakers.
