Oem mud guards

    Haven't had any issues yet, but I've heard that the front ones can be a bit long, though all those posts were from older gens. Should I snip them shorter in he front or leave then alone? And if should snip them, what's the best way to do it? I do like the protection they offer as live in Northeast where they love to just dump tons of salt everywhere.

    So the third gen guards are just as easy to cut as previous ones? Don't want them splintering or anything if they are too rigid to be cut, I have tin snips that I can use, just wanted to check.

    The 3rd Gen are pretty rigid compared to the 2nd Gen that flap in the wind. They are also rimmed, in that they can collect water like a bowl of you lay them flat on the ground.

    I think they are fine for my use. But for heavy offroading it wouldn't hurt to trim them if you would like. My truck is stock height with OEM street tires.

    If you cut them, they’ll be useless. If they are a problem, replace with flexible ones (there are a few manufacturers out there), or simply take them off. If they are not a problem, leave them. But cutting this design of mud flap just seems pointless.

    Ok, probably just leave them on and take them off if going off road, generally I know what I can expect day to day, as long as they are good for road use that's what I care about, reduce how much salt spray gets thrown down the sides during winter, and reduce throwing rocks at people behind me. Thanks.

    Good choice. You really won’t beat them for road use, (if your running stock wheels / tires). they catch a ton of crap and stop it scratching the lower parts of the body panels. If you are running wider tires / wheel offset or need them to flex for off-road use, then you are better off replacing them.

    My TRDOR didn't come with mud flaps so I bought from dealer and it's not long at all. My 03 Taco came with factory flaps and it's longer than those I bought, thought it was aftermarket but it's marked with Toyota part number.....
