Sit in the shade and laugh as the parade of barbecued tourist gets off the Zion shuttle?

Already did that! No, really! The line to get out of Zion was so bad last week (Spring Break) that the shuttles were rolling through the employee housing areas. Me, husband, neighbor, and a friend who was staying with us, all set up in the front yard in lawn chairs, drinks in hand, even had binoculars and watched them go by like a freak show! Im sure were on more than one persons IG!

That's hilarious! Next time I'm down there, I'll bring the beer!

There is a burger place in Jackson, WY that has a 2nd story balcony. The locals sit up there and heckle the parallel-parkers that try to squeeze in down below. Pretty good time!

Thanks for the tips. I'll decide if I have time to bike after Zion. It may not be worth the cost to rent the bikes and time to get to the trails and back. Going to get hiking early in the morning and just chill the rest of the day.

This reminds me of a lifelong ambition; to set up a cooler, lawn chairs, and pop-up shade near the Bullfrog marina boat ramp on Memorial Day weekend to just watch the carnage.

Fellow Loganian here. Just moved up here, haven't really checked out the surrounding trails but I hear most roads are still closed for the Winter. Can't wait for everything to open back up.

I’ll let you in on my secret spots up in that area. How’s the new job and new location been?

Pretty much down south from SLC at this time of year. The Swell is an awesome place to explore. Black dragon is a scenic technical trail, also there is the race track and many others. I can send you some google earth files of all sorts of trails around utah.

Anyone know of any trails near the Provo area? I am kind of tired of Driving 3 hours and spending multiple days in Moab... Gas is getting too pricey...

Any chance I might get that info too? Down here in SLC from Seattle and looking for dispersed camping places and mellow trails to get out on if possible.

I love it up here. Miss the year round wheeling of SoCal, but the people, small town vibe, mountains, everything is awesome. New job feels like the old job, but pay is better so there's that too. When you heading back up this way?

Black Dragon starts off the I-70. Fill up in Green River and drive about 15mi west on the 70. Not sure what mile marker, but if you load the track in a google earth you can see where the pull off is. Expect potential pinstripes on Black dragon. My Long travel Taco barely fit through due to the over growth. Trail is always changing due to it being a canyon and washouts. It is a moderate/ almost difficult rating.

I haven't done Devils Race track but its on my list.

Both of these trails are in the San Rafael Swell. It is helpful to get the National Geographic Map of the area. Go to REI/ Kirkhams and look for the map for this area. There are tons of trails that range in difficulty in this area. What is nice is that it is usually not crowded since only locals go down to the swell.

Here is a pic from when I did black dragon two years ago.

Eureka has some good stuff around it. Not super techy except a few spots, but quite narrow. 5 Mile Pass and little Moab are around there too.

Got to see a lot of it helping with a SAR mission (that didn't end so well :( )

I was up in Logan this last weekend. Probably end up back there within the next week or two. You'll have to come join our crew on a camping trip one of these weekends.

Late to the party on this one but the best time for the sun tunnels is around the winter/summer solstice - which is the whole reason they were created. A big group camps there twice a year to bonfire, eat food, drink beer and then catch the sunrise. Aside from that, once you've seen em you've seen em.

Nice, thanks! Have to add this to my trails to hit when I finally head down there.

Yeah, I've been meaning to meet up with you guys. Son's wrestling season is over in two weeks, which has been eating up my weekends, then it's on.
