I have a yellow top that is six years old and still works fine. I think the trick to making batteries last is to keep them charged. I have a battery tender for when it sits...

Also check your ground connection at the frame end. It tends to get corroded for some reason.

Is it a group 31 battery? I admit I like the idea of them but I really hate to add that much weight up there for how I drive. I think I'm gonna start destroying the inner fender and supports like many others have done.
Awesome. I think I definitely need a battery tender too haha

Northstar Group 27 is 68lbs so not that much. Probably worth it to go bigger then just make some kind of reinforcement yourself for the core support.

Well you're comparing two different brands of batteries in two different sizes. I would decide on which brand you want to go with (Optima yellow top or Northstar) then look at the difference in weight between the two sizes.

I'm inclined to the yellow top tbh. 31 group scares me from complaints about weight and then I also have to buy a battery cage... but if it's better to run all my shit on a truck that sits a lot then that's the priority. I guess honestly the autozone battery has been fine for 4 years...

Probably be fine with a 27 if you just keep a trickle charger on it when not using it

Yeah I've decided stock size will do just fine...

It's between these two... the Optima isn't that great.

The Odyssey is actually the lightest and has the second best CCA of the 3 big AGM brands
850 CCA at only 49 lbs
    https://shop.odysseybattery.com/p/34r-pc1500t?pp=12

Then there is the Northstar which is clearly the best out of the 3 for CCA.
930 CCA but it weighs a whooping 68 lbs
It's also $50 more... I'm not sure its worth it tbh.

They all have some different lingo about recharge/discharge too... that's the only part I'm unsure about lol

    Optima: "300+ discharge/recharge cycles"

Odyssey: "up to 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge!"

Northstar: "Cycles over 900 times to 50% depth of discharge"

Honestly though I'm thinking Odyssey unless anyone else has any other opinions. @username

Yeah not worth the weight and extra cost/install for a 31 for me.

But that'll work great for your truck. I'm pretty sold on the Odyssey 34R for me

Pretty sure that's the Odyssey I ran when I was single bat. It was great. You do need to make a spacer to fit it with the stock hold down.

I run both of my northstar's in the stock location. No issues yet after 2 years of back roads. I would prefer not to run them there, but it was the only spot I had room.

I’m alive.... hardly ever on TW nowadays and that makes me sad. Got a new rear bumper for the Ram #killingthechrome and gave it a full detail.

The taco is still sitting in the driveway. Needs a battery and a detail lol. I’ve just been checking stuff off my list... had a lot of mechanical projects backed up from ski season

I bought a whiteboard to make a list lol

Needs a full detail but I decided it’s time to fix this water leak. I’m leaking water into the headliner from my prinsu bolt holes. I siliconed the crap out of them so I don’t understand but I gotta fix this.

I kinda got into it tonight but the headliner looks like it will be a bitch to take down. Need some advice at the best way to reseal these. Maybe come from the top? @Nate87 @NYCO
I really don’t want to pull this headliner down... nor do I know how lol
