Anybody know a good shop to have some light work done on a 2003 in the North Metro area? The closer to Broomfield the better. Need timing belt, water pump, etc and would like to establish a relationship anyway since the truck isn't getting any younger. Err, need A/C work too.

    Thanks in advance!

Pellman's in Boulder got a ringing endorsement through the CO BS thread - thanks raiderpower. That thread's a little on the busy side though so bumping this one up again.

Thanks man - me too. I'm actually starting to think I might just have a go at all this myself, but would like to have a good shop in my pocket for a rainy day anyway.

Last March (2017) I spent most of the month living out of my truck and skiing on a long road trip from California to Colorado and back. Heading to the Front Range from Aspen, I ended up having a spark plug wire or two fail, so I was running on 4 or 5 cylinders. I was pretty tired mentally from all the driving and ended up going to Japanese Auto Service (4894 Van Gordon Street Units 301 & 302 Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033). Then got me in and out very quickly for a ok price. I say OK because the diagnosis was just bad spark plug wires and they replaced with OEM quality DENSO ones. Apparently the Bosch ones I installed when I got the truck failed after less than 26,000 miles (I have a very detailed spreadsheet of EVERYTHING I have done to my truck).

Anyway, I can't state how their pricing is overall, but I can say that their customer service and work was done very well. Especially for fitting me in last minute when they were obviously very busy and packed tight with other customers.

Wound up doing the water pump/belt job myself, but need wheel bearings & am farming this out. This list is coming in handy now - thanks for the posts!

Bumping this up in the case that anyone has something to add. Seems like Toy Crawler is out of business - they don't answer the phone or return messages or e-mails. Pellman's won't give me an estimate on specific work without driving all the way to Boulder (truck's in bad shape right now - wheel bearings are REALLY bad). Still looking for something near Broomfield if possible. Truck is grounded but will drive it slowly.

The shop my friend owns and best friend operates is Pellmans.

I’d imagine it’s hard to give a quote without seeing the scope of the work.

But you can just ask what the book rate is for replacing wheel bearings for your specific vehicle.

Yeah, I got the same treatment from the above shop in Wheat Ridge. Looks like I'm just going to do this one also myself. I'm not taking my truck to a shop without some sort of idea what I'm paying and these guys won't give me numbers on very specific work - seems fishy. I get it - they wanna diagnose it themselves, but this is getting too aggravating. Just gonna buy some bearings and get after it.
