Reason I'm asking is when I went to 4wd I had all that off and found a crack behind the dust shield. I went to inspect for more cracks this weekend and the 4wd doesn't come apart that easily so i bent the shield out of the way to inspect.

I always took them off since rocks would get trapped in there and chew up the rotors.

Same here, it’s a rock bin that’s asking for destruction so I removed mine as well.

Finally got the @dirt designs kit installed and took it for a shakedown run through central and southern Utah. More of a family camping trip than an offroad trip but still got to cruise down some nasty roads to see how it handles them.

Overall really happy. Still need some tweaking and fine tuning with the alignment but the kit soaks up the trails I go on just fine.

Just a poser pic from near one of our camps but headed out to the desert this week in the evenings for some more fun.

I had mine one before the Dirt designs kit. Took them off after that. Didn't notice any change in performance on them this last week on our trip and I drove in everything from mud, to sand, to rock, to wet roads in a downpour.

Can someone confirm our rear axle housing diameter? I think it is 3'' or 3.25'' but my calipers arent big enough to fit around it, been googling for like an hour and can't find anything definitive.

    On a 2nd gen with 8'' 3rd if it makes a difference.

I just ripped my tc sua kit off because it rode like a lumber wagon but I had the heavy duty springs with a topper on. It's pretty easy to install other than welding on the perches underneath and the new bump pad, which is still easy cuz nothings in the way. I'd defiantly go with the light duty springs unless you plan on having +500lbs in your bed at all times. I've still heard of the light duties running stiff but I don't know first hand on them. If your 100% set on then go with the tc kit but I thought I wouldn't need anything more and now I wished I would of just ordered the dmz kit from the get go but you live and you learn.

With just having a spare dirty in my bed my springs feel just about right. That said though I got adjustable resis so I can mess with the stiffness a little. If you plan to run anything in the bed for extended periods I would consider HD or at a minimum have the adjustable resis to compensate.

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
I'm ripping my TC SUA kit off too

Rides like a bag of rocks in the rear even with 500lbs and a spare
And the Deaver HD springs are pretty loud

I'm running 2.5x16 finned triple bypass that were tuned

    It's just stiff

But I have multiple reasons for taking my SUA set up off aside from the ride quality hahah
