Still new and learning a ton about not only Tacomas, but 4x4's in general. I recently reached out to Headstrong (the expert) on suspension builds and the like. I was curious because I will get new wheels and tires with the direction of the 4Runner TRD wheels in 17x7. Tires I am a bit undecided on because I would like no rub. But tire size would change with lift right? Would you lift, run stock wheels and tires until you get around to the shoes? Or get wheels and tires then lift? Overall just curious in the route to take.

I have 265/70r16s from factory and I lifted mine first to make sure I didn't have any crazy vibrations or issues. and really it doesn't look half bad with the 265s. I'm in the same boat. still looking at tires and cannot for the life of me decide.

Lift first. It's easier to diagnose any issues you may come across after.

Really helps not having to wonder if you new w/t setup is causing anything unwanted.

Looking at something very similar. How is the ride and what height did this give you?

ride is great. a little stiffer than factory but by no means harsh. gave me about 2"s in the front and 1.5 in the rear . I did remove the factory overload springs in the rear. truck still has about 5/8 rake which I wanted. I did use a 1/4 top plate spacer to even out the taco lean.

Have you loaded the truck bed yet with any weight? I'm looking at a similar setup and am keeping my fingers crossed that the headstrong AALs help maintain rake better than just the stock leafs (they should)

Depends on how much you are willing to do.

I'm going to run 265/75/16 on new wheels with 0 offset on stock suspension (likely for a year or so before I change out suspension). Shouldn't rub, but if it does I have no problem trimming or cutting.

Also, a modest lift with stock tire size looks fine in my opinion.
