    Hey guys, need your optic...

Still got a rub at wheel lock that is driving me nucking futz. 265/70/17 Wildpeaks on OEM 4runner wheels with 1.25" wheel spacers. Looks like it is rubbing on the front side of the fender well liner, based on where the undercoating is scraped off. (Same place on both sides - removing the air dam didn't help, but it does look better).

I don't want to go the route of a full lift kit; that brings other headaches and harsher ride. Looking at what I can do for 1-2" of lift and eliminate the rub, and not cause the ride to suffer. I really want to avoid having the extra cost and hassle of using UCA's to get correct alignment. FYI - I plan to do the 5100's either way.

So the way I see it, my options are as follows:
    • Live with the rubbing (No thanks!)
    • Remove wheel spacers and see if this fixes issue (Might try this anyway)
    • Headstrong Offroad 1/2" coil spacer set and 5100's (1" lift)
    • OME 885's, 5100's and 3 AAL, (2" or so)

As far as my use goes, maybe the occasional mild trail, shitty fire road, snow or mud hole but primarily street/highway driving. I'm leaning towards option 3, unless UCA's are recommended.

    Welcome your thoughts.

I would say its the spacers, they basically give you a <4" backspacing which I think can give people rubbing issues even with 265, at least based on what I've read. I have no issues with 265/75/16 on stock wheels with no spacers.

Any pics of where it rubs?

Thanks Tac, I'll take some pics tmrw if I get a chance.

Interestingly I did had the spacers on there with 265/65/17s and it didn't rub, but I think these 4Runner wheels have different back spacing than the FJ's I was running before. I'll try that option this weekend.
