Hello. New member with a question here. My 18 drives much better in s mode in 5th. Doesn't "hunt" as much. Since it is only using 1 o/d gear, does it hurt long term to always drive it like that? Thank you for any responses.

The only thing that will hurt is fuel mileage...which will effect your wallet long term.

Mpg doesn't seem much different since its not shifting as much. Not many miles yet, gonna keep an eye on it.

All that will do like you said is prevent it from shifting to 6th. Essentially you tell the truck to be a 5 speed auto. Nothing else changes in the way the truck behaves.

This doesn't really answer your question, but as someone who has 95,000... I'd advise you to just ride the truck normally and let the drive-by-wire technology "learn" your driving habits. Mine took 5000 miles (and TSBs) to really feel right . Good luck.

And don't use cruise control till you have given the truck some time to learn your driving habits. Cruise control hurts your gas milage if you have a lot of rolling hills too. Welcome to the Forum
