That was the compromise I made too - driving out to the desert for 3-5 hours on the freeway wouldn't be that good with anything lower than the 4.56's.

Alright, so lots have happened, and hopefully my choices pay off, first off I will say the length of the dakars is a bit dissapointing as my shackle angles aren’t 100% ideal at full droop. One day they will be replaced w Alcans. But on with the upgrades. I finally decided it was time to add the aal to the dakars, since we were tearing em apart lets cycle em and get my measurements. First bummer to this upgrade was tye realization that one of my shocks had no nitrogen in it and needs a rebuild. 76956092-5FFC-4235-A90F-254F622A7D17.jpg

At least Ill have them valve them correctly for my weight and keep them as back up.
On with the measurements, we took these apart. 59D12624-71E9-48C2-92EB-93E04733C083.jpg

And then started cycling the leaf pack and take our measurements.60CAF34B-AE43-400F-83B5-B3C16CFE50FF.jpgD5EBCB64-4BB2-4DB8-B93A-42BD2DABD5F4.jpg A9FC4F87-C6CD-4A58-9401-896BE4DB7F5F.jpg

We heated the spring and hammered the front eye bushings out to instal the daystar bolts w zerks Then i had to head to autozone cause I snapped a ubolt, we obviously took them off and put them on a lot. So quick fix autozone. Then ate some foodEE667375-6C8F-4C85-A411-E1D303D3F5A4.jpg

And finally put it all back together and sent me on my quest for shocks that didnt limit my down travel by 4” I found these Icon’s after they recomended the wrong shocks that would have been perfect allowing full travel of my leafs, but not having an eyelit on the top. So it was icon 206513r shocks. They promised they would fit, and they showed up like this3EC63E7F-AADD-4FCE-99C9-E0FC9D93C985.jpg
This would not fit, nor would it even if I pressed the sleeve out. After 3 phonecalls i finally spoke with the right tech at icon who sent me the right bushings to press in. Super fristrating as this took two weeks of being told the bushings were being sent and the last guy finally said there hadnt been an order opened for me. He double checked everything and put me back on track. The new bushings showed up the next day being that i am really close to icon. I called up downsouth motor sports and they are super cool! They pressed em in for free and i was off to the races. Untill i noticed i was missing a washer on the outboard lower driver side shock location. Called toyota, had some miscommunication between outboard and inboard, and got the wrong washer:anonymous:811171FA-D389-436F-A5F8-3D478E88650C.jpg
At that point the ubolts i bought off @Speedytech7 showed up and I got them on, after realizing I will never buy autozone ubolts again...good to get me home from @YumaTRD shop, but glad they are off...had to use a grinder41B0BEA1-CDBD-4E34-A83C-A1E1E2375ED5.jpg
Grinder ftw...then installed the new bumps w 1” of spacers due to the fact that my new shocks compression length is 14.9” and extends to 25.9” allowing me full droop. I dont recommend this for go fast trucks. I like to go somewhat fast but never really find myself much over 40 in washes. Ive had this truck since 2005 and its my first car purchase and dream truck. I beat it up a bit but it is my baby. Back to the build let there be bumps54834ABE-046C-44E0-BBA5-7BF0DA1C4DFF.jpg
Since i was waiting on the washer the shocks waited for two more days. Then there was full droop.9ED4D16D-CA54-425B-940F-A622D8EE4BE4.jpg A4BBFB2B-FE97-422E-B786-C19121DC16CA.jpg E713A7F3-99FC-442F-9282-65FDEB71D958.jpg
I also did my oil and oil filter and both diff fluid changes. Well the rear cause the old drain plug on the front diff was half striped, toyota down the street removed replaced and filled the front w the fluid I provided for a reasonable fee. Truck drives great, and this upgrade took forever and gave me some fml moments. Glad I am over this hurdle and hopefully it works for my needs. Gotta put the rtt back on but got some dump runs I gotta do for the house.021AF949-79A3-475E-9B85-4790AAC32588.jpg

Edit: thank you to all the sd tw fam for helping me make this happen with an injured arm! Love u guys!

It has been a trying week, had the truck in at toyota on Monday cause I didnt want to strip a partially stripped frozen front diff drain plug, they filled it...then after having to take it to LA for work since the subaru was being serviced, exacerbated an already bad radiator hose...which cracked and sprayed coolant on the toyota service floor. Just got there in time, new hoses installed for not so good a price but truck was saved. Took it to firestone for the alignment on friday, they nailed it! Whent to chipotle got some tacos, saw fluid dripping from my driverside wheel well. Proceeded to have a heart attack. Took it to toyota since they were close and took a looksyF669E38B-1089-4BC0-B40F-31E822F624D1.jpg064FD5F5-16B5-4EEB-94FA-D2A3687B80E3.jpg
Found diff fluid was barfing out the front diff breather. They then told me they put 1.5 qts in there. I pulled out my owners manual n said it only holds 1.1qts as they opened the fill plug n it started pouring out the fill plug, n said thats how much youre supposed to put in there
Went home a fucn mess n found a thread about this, talked to the op, opened the fill plug n let it drain, while i was under there noticed my calipers were not clearing the balance weights for my wheels
    :annoyed:
Pulled out the dremel ftw! They clear now! Truck ran great, drove it ten miles no gear oil out the breather. So I finnally took the truck out to test the new suspension in the back and I fucn nailed IT! Had a great day in the dirt n rocks. Will get some more photos uploaded soon. 0E41C044-8323-4F4F-AA1E-3964A0306B82.jpg0A67D8E5-307C-4B12-A904-CCFDE536332C.jpg 50EE28AB-F635-4E25-A00D-6B1949EC3C77.jpg

Can't quite decide if clicking on your build link was a good thing or a bad thing.

    Either way...

The wish list just doubled/tripled. Can I handle a third job?

Seriously. Your rig is freaking schweet!

Are those the wheelers off road super bump stops? U just used 4 1/4” spacers? You know how much those bumps compress?

Yes, but I used 3 3/8” spacers to just be safe. I could take one out after seeing how far my shocks compressed this past weekend, but it has also helped my severe frown and stopped my rubbing. Without the spacers they compress to stock height

Yes. They compress a lot, the rubber is softer meant for less rebound, but they will not compress above stock without spacers from what I read
