    The lower level of the Northgate parking garage at the South end of the mall may be tall enough.

    Anyone have experience with setting up a cooler for a water cooled tig torch?

    @Adude
    @Juforrest

    Am i going to need an actual radiator, or is just the 3 gallons of water going to be enough?

    The nice thing is that the radiator can be added later if it's necessary.

    Summit. They were cheapish. Lots of local welding suppliers or steel suppliers carry the things, this was just more convenient. The cap was Amazon.

    Padelford garage @ UW- Lot N21. That's where I always parked. The lower level is like 15 ft tall.

    And not at a mall. You'll have tonnnssss of space to work. Usually only like 10 cars in there and it'll hold 100 or so.

    What brand rig did you get and what is the output/duty cycle? I'm not an expert in tig by an stretch. We have several at the shop that are water cooled, one just has a recirculation tank and the giant 480 amp machine has a radiator, but it's part of the machine.

    Lincoln Synchrowave 175. It's an older machine. 1/4 inch aluminum is doable, but I'm maxing the bitch out. Welder is capable of a 36" bead, torch is capable of about 8" before it's too hot to hold. Even with the cooler I'm probably only going to be able to weld up 1 set of sliders before a 20 minute break.

    That's no fun. I will be doing a demo with Lincoln tomorrow I will pick the reps brain on a cooler setup for that machine.

    The syncrowaves are good machines. I have only used a Miller cooler I think they have a fan and rad built right in. With the syncrowave, I only noticed the torch get warm with 1/8 in tungsten welding aluminum. Have you made sure you have a good c clamp ground, and it' newer. What diameter tungsten you got in and what' your amps set at?

    Might be worth asking in the Anything Welding thread. I know the HTP unit has gotten some decent reviews and its only a 2 gallon unit. And not terribly expensive at ~500.

    Id bet you are going to want a radiator and fan setup on it though. Espcially if you are running the machine close ot its duty cycle time

    My bad Jim I thought you got a full size 225, that' is the only square waves I have used. One had a cooler and one didn't the rest were full size shop Miller tigs with a Miller cooler. I

    Is that 175 have the ability to accept the new whip at torch with fittings for a cooler?

    You can also change your weld style to be more suitble. Bevels, 4in stitch welds ect. Plus if you get good at starts and stops it is flawless and less warping on material. If you shoot me a Pm I can swing by Sunday after the wif has her 5k race. We can chit chat and set up a sheet metal date. I am not being condescending just am un aware of your experience. :):)

    Wired my ARB twin up tonight and installed the switch left of dash. It helps to make sure the pressure switch is plugged in for correct operation. It's a bit difficult to do after it's mounted and plumbed. :facepalm:@JimSnell

    Im actually really happy with the machine, and i haven't found the duty cycle yet. just gets fuggin hot.

    Don't worry, the last thing i do when im learning new stuff is get offended. That being said, I've glued quite a bit of sheet metal together, just never tig. I've always done it with little rod or wire.

    Passenger side floor is wet. Thoughts, experience? I found an 8 year old thread about water coming thru but the pics don't work anymore.
