Hauling Question: Paddle Boards

I wanted to check in and see if anybody can show how they haul their various boards preferably how you do it in a DCSB. The two I haul are around 10-12' long. I'm weighing my options of perhaps a ladder rack or bed extender(to lay them on top of with the front on the bed floor).
Thoughts? Ideas? Pictures?

I haven't been brave enough to rig mine up yet. Just been packing it on the Outlander when I go. I wish there was a single bed rack that was tall enough to match the factory roof rack. It'd give me way more peace of mind.

 

Exactly what I wanted to see, thanks a lot. I figured that idea would work well. I packed them in my short bed titan resting on the closed tailgate which I didn't love having to do. The extender keeps them lower with less overhang which I like. Hitting Craigslist now to find an extender.

Have a 5 foot bed and use one of these in two modes, if i don't have stuff in the bed i use the horizontal mode where it sticks back a couple of feet from the bed with tailgate open. or if I do have stuff in the bed i use it in vertical mode in conjunction with my OEM roof rack simple and cheap to bungee on all kind of stuff i did get some of the split tube AC line isolation that I lined the bar with to keep from pressure dinging both of my boards an 11 and 12 footer.

 

I use the Harbor Freight bed extender for my two kayaks 12ft and 10ft. It easier on my back. I also use the Thule roof rack and j hooks for when we are pulling our pop-camper and load the two kayaks on the roof. I have done this with a 2nd DCSB cab and now with my 3rd gen DCSB. On the roof or in the truck bed I cruise at 75mph down the highway. I should take a picture next time, I have thought about it, just have not done it.

 

One of the reasons I went with a cap was to haul boards and kayaks.. so much room for activities

 

Ladder rack.

 

I've got a Thule Xsporter and SUP Taxi that I use for both my 1st and 3rd gens.

 

I have a cab high bed rack, AllPro Offroad. Attached to the rack are plates that simulate car roof gutters. A Yakima rack is then attached to those plates. The Yakima rack is wide enough to carry two paddleboards side by side. I only use the Yakima rack when carrying long items that extend over the cab.

For those looking for a paint that applies easily and from my experience holds up really well consider John Deere gloss black paint available at the John Deere dealer.

I ended up grabbing a used(but like new) bed extender yesterday for $50...they are all over the place here in Northern Colorado. I ordered brand new brackets for around $29 from my local dealer. Looking forward to getting the boards out this summer. I'll throw pics up when I try it out.
