Nowhere near as heavy as another 4x4 Tacoma, but I towed my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid home on a tow dolly with my 4 cylinder 2.7l which is capped at 3,500 pounds. I was a couple hundred pounds over the weight limit with the curb weight of the Civic and the Tow Dolly combined but when I was towing I didn’t feel like anything was behind me. Dolly had surge brakes and I had Tundra brakes so stopping wasn’t an issue. Just give yourself plenty of room to stop, stay at 55, and turn overdrive off with an automatic and you’re good. I was about to tow my 5-lug home as the curb weight of it and the dolly were about 3,500 pounds, but I didn’t feel like unbolting the driveshaft so my friend with a Tahoe offered to tow it for me.

Just to practice towing before I picked up the car, I towed my 2000 Mercedes E320 W210 around the block which is about 1,000 pound more heavy than the Civic which pushed the total towing weight to around 4,500 pounds. Surprisingly the truck towed that thing with no issue, but I definitely felt the weight behind me with that car.

Before someone says: yes I know you can’t tow a rear wheel drive car like the E320 without disconnecting the driveline. The manual actually says you can flat tow the car for up to 20 miles if you maintain 30 miles per hour.

    Reserected from the dead.

Remember, that transmission was the last year for the weak planetary gear sets. Do not tow in over drive. The motor will have no trouble pulling a load in overdrive, so don't be tempted. It was the same transmission used in our Tacoma's. Great for Tacoma, not built for the heavy Sequoia.

I tow everything and everything, then I deal with the frustrations of rebuilding the suspension again.

If you're going to tow your Tacoma to the desert, why not tow it with something that can serve as a base camp. Here is mine.

    Too many to list
If it's a 4x4 that's a deal.and you can tow your taco no issue. I have a 04 sequioa 4x4 and tow a pop up camper no issues.and brute force makes armor for sequioas.

Decided to see if my old chains fit the new tires. Good thing I did because only one does, the other one needs about 2 more links of chain, so not a big deal.

Chains for the tires and I guess they’ll self clear if I ever have to put them on again, which I hope I don’t.

What tires are those? I can't quite make it out...they look good though. Time to get a matching spare :boink:

On my way out of town for a few days, just got a P0171. Reset code and picked up some MAF and throttle body cleaners (but haven't used them yet). Back on the road now to see if the code comes back on. If it does, what should I check besides MAF and TB?

Would rather not turn around. :)

@Speedytech7 (just cause I know you'll answer relatively quickly :))

I see DC's on the side so I'd assume Dick Cepek. Maybe Fun/Extreme Country's.

ugh the dreaded P0171...that code haunted me for over a month when I first got my truck nearly 2 years ago. Tried everything (well, the dealership did because I was still within their 30 day warranty)...they replaced my MAF, spark plugs/wires, 02 and A/F sensors, etc. nothing made it go away. Finally they called in a master mechanic and he discovered a small leak on the back of the supercharger where the 7th injector plugs in, was supposed to be capped but it was cracked.

That same mechanic told me that P0171 is almost always because of a vacuum leak, so I'd start looking there

Mine would go away after cleaning the MAF but would come back on periodically afterwards till I replaced it
