JGRAHAM, I don't know if you're still on this board, It was long ago. If so, thanks SO much for this remedy. I'll be doing it in a week or so once I get my new Halo/Projector lights and the running/blinker LEDs. Also, thanks to others for the relay removal tips. I'm going to try to manhandle mine out without fuse box removal, also.

Just finished. Works! Tried the resistors and one got so hot it melted a tie strap. Then said WTH and gave it a shot, had to grind of 3/4. The switchback feature doesn't work though, maybe they sent me the wrong lights. Thanks!

BTW I just swapped the fronts only.

I had to do it twice. I ended up with a 60% removal. I also did the green wire daytime running light delete "snip" for good measure. The blinker relay CAN be freed-up on a 2009 without fuse panel removal. Just the change door. and I've zip tied the relay to a more "friendly" location if I need to get to it in the future.

I am really interested in turning my daytime running lights to work with the switchback led bulbs but my taco has only two wires for the drl can I switch the harness to a three wire harness or will they work with load resistors

Did this today...it works! I am running only the front bulbs with LEDs (still bulbs in the tails) and I had to remove about 2/3 the thickness off the resistor. Used a small hand file to do it using the take some off and then check it method.

Also one thing I did that others may have as well is I left the housing under the dash and just slid the card out of the housing. This did still require taking one of the fuse box nuts off to get a little more flex out of it to get clearance to pull the card out.

I try this mod and the hyperflashing stop but now the only problem that I have with my switchbacks is that they stay amber instead of white when they are in drl mode or parking mode they only go white when I turn the headlights on; can someone help me with this problem

I utilized a resistor I found in another thread.

Can you tell me where did you get that resistor and did it fix the problem on the led white light not coming on in the drl mode instead the amber light comes out???

I’m waiting for my CKs to come in for the front, but with LEDs in the rear and regular bulbs up front the front bulbs are functioning properly between DRL and directional, so I would assume that any other proper replacement would work. Did you get CK style bulbs for the front?

I only got on the front DRL CK leds, I didn’t replace any light bulbs on the back
Here a attachment for what I got for my DRL light on the front:70E4BAD2-E0CA-42B0-9CDD-D276CCC7BACB.jpg49681ED4-A2AC-45C7-9E08-37F04F85BC79.jpg

And you tried flipping them 180 degrees in the socket?

I do not think the resistor is your problem.

That’s what I’m trying to figure out; at first I had the hyperflashing but I fixed by sanding the two loop on my DRL relay but now I have this dawn issue that I can’t see to figure out.

I have an extra trim pot resistor (the same one I used) BNIB if someone needs it. $6 gets it shipped to you.

A replaced the front (only) DTRL/turn signal bulbs with Sylvania 3157A Amber LEDs from AutoZone. And, of course, I had the hyperflash. Solved the hyperflash by filing some of the resistor loop inside the flasher unit. They work perfectly now even for extended time.
My Taco is an '09 PreRunner with factory DTRL. The flasher unit is on the SIDE of the interior fuse block. The entire flasher unit can be removed from the fuse block by pushing up with quite a bit of force. Just follow the OP's advice to shave the resistor loop inside the flasher........piece of cake. Hardest part is getting the flasher out.

Can someone post a picture of the completed ground down loop for reference?
