She was binding up pretty bad and making all kinds of fun noises. Funny thing though. She didn’t make a single noise when I pulled her off the trailer when I got back.

How is the process going on the brake master cylinders adapter?

Waiting on my waterjet friend to cut the adapters for me. Still moving forward though.

Have you found your Tundra booster yet?

Not yet. Axle is getting gears installed. Have weld up the steering kit from Jessie on the knuckles. Just building the pile still.

Twin stick mod for the FJ Cruiser tcase. Funny thing, this case came out of a 2017 4Runner with 9k miles on it. You do have to look for a tcase out of the Trail edition 4 runner as the regular runner has a different case.

First, find yourself a tcase. :D

    Photo Apr 12, 10 11 51 AM.jpg
You'll need to remove the coupling on the input shaft if you're putting the case behind a gear driven case (crawl box). It helps to heat the coupler a bit before prying it off.

    Photo Apr 12, 11 39 41 AM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 11 39 46 AM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 11 46 40 AM.jpg
Remove the shifter and all sensors. The sensor on the passenger side is 2w/4w and the two on the driver side are the Low and Hi sensors.

    Photo Apr 12, 11 50 32 AM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 11 50 38 AM.jpg
Remove the two 6mm allen bolts at the rear of the case. Behind each bolt you'll find a spring and detent ball. Set the spring and ball aside as you'll be putting them back in. Between the two rails you'll find a pin that looks like a pill, but you can't get to it yet. You'll have to split the case first.

    Photo Apr 12, 11 55 01 AM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 11 55 32 AM.jpg
Your next major step is to split the case. To do this remove the nut from both the rear and front output. You'll need a 30mm socket.

BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO SPLIT THE CASE MAKE SURE THE 2W/4W SELECTOR IS IN 2WD. There are three keys in the synchronizer that will fall out if you have the rail in 4wd. It's not the end of the world if they do fall out, but it's another step when assembling the case that you don't want to mess with.

    Photo Apr 12, 12 06 09 PM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 12 06 15 PM.jpg

After both output flanges have been removed you're ready to split the case. There are a few spots on the case where you can use a cold chisel to wedge between the two halves to aid in splitting the case. Remove the 12 bolts and pull the case apart.

    Photo Apr 12, 12 10 08 PM.jpg

    Photo Apr 12, 12 28 47 PM.jpg

Above you can see that I've pulled the hi/lo shaft from the case. You can take the fork off, but I don't see that as necessary. Just take it over to the grinder and cut down the extra foot on the selector.

The nub highlighted below is what you're cutting off.

    Screenshot 2018-04-12 17.40.29.jpg

This is what the rails should look like afterwards.

    Photo Apr 12, 12 43 13 PM.jpg
Since that nub is now gone the rails can slide past eachother without engaging eachother.

While you have the hi/lo rail out you'll need to pull the pill that sits between them. If you lave the pill in place the rails won't be able to move independently.

    Photo Apr 12, 12 30 27 PM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 12 30 22 PM.jpg Photo Apr 12, 12 29 57 PM.jpg
That's basically it. Leave the pill out, put the shift rails back in, lay down your favorite gasket maker, and put the case back together in revers order. Good luck!

Front dig on a toyota case isn't really thing as far as I know. The write up is for a 1-stick -> 2-stick conversion. Only difference is he now has 2Low. And it's a mechanical T-case instead of electric.

If you want a front dig you’re looking at an atlas or similar case.

And yes, the twin stick mod is for 2 low, which is awesome. I’ll throw in my new cutting brakes for front dig duty.

What sticks are you planning on using?

The case no longer works as a J shift so now you need a new top plate with the stick pivot collar that has provisions for two sticks that only pivot forward and backwards yes?

What else, when doing an FJ case swap, do you need to mate one of those bad boys to a 6 speed 2nd gen aside from the case itself?

I realize the twin stick is not necessary but a delight bonus.

OH AND THANK YOU FOR THE WRITE UP! ! !

First I've heard of a Tundra brake booster swap, what's the reasoning on that?
