I probably would have saved myself some coin and gone with a 5-speed access cab SR instead of my 6-speed sport. But I had my mind set on the V6 and the SR was another 100+ miles away. Oh well :notsure:

    Emphasizing on earlier comments...

I find this 3rd gen is a pretty good truck... Don't get my earlier comments wrong.. It has a lot of quality components... And some good features..

The reason I say I don't think I'd buy it again is because I'm just not seeing the longevity I was expecting..... And build quality has me wondering what in store...

I have had problems with this new truck... The TSB for shaking while braking was performed, and my leaf springs were replaced and my pinion angle changed... During this procedure, the tech forgot to tighten my hanger bearing and my drive shaft dropped while driving.. No damage, I stopped right away.... What a sour tastes in my mouth though... The Dealer did correct it after a tow.. I inspected with the shop foreman, and all was fine... I just wanted it over with... He is now the only one allowed to touch my truck at the dealer..

Now I find out there is the beginnings of a class action lawsuit for defective axles.... Ones that create a shake while braking because of how the drums are on the axle..

Mine still shakes while braking... I can live with it... But jeez... I don't even want to bring it up at the dealer... You all know how that'll go..

It doesn't take much research to find out these 3rd gens have a few things that were over looked... And I'm a bit worried... I bought this as a 10yr truck... And I'm not seeing it... But I can't really say for sure..

I say i wouldn't buy it again but I really don't know what else I'd buy...

one of my MAIN factors for buying this thing was Toyota is one of the first to solve the direct injection cleaning issues... Everything new is direct injection and I was skeptical of all other brands...

And the big ass front diff made from steel not aluminum... Clutch fan... Real power steering... These are becoming rare qualities..

I'm thinking I have the same truck I had growing up.... It shook when I braked...LOL... But it had front drums.. And some abuse..

This is not mine, but it was just like it... And in green.. a beat up..lol..:)

Gutless af... But geared accordingly.. And everyone wanted a ride in it..

I remember a guy making fun of me with his brand new fullsize truck, you'll never get there before I do...

Well I took a shortcut through the snowmobile trail..lol

I've had mine for almost 2 weeks and so far I love it. I traded in a 2017 Mazda CX-5 (huge mistake buying that car) after owning a few Jeeps in the past. I got an amazing deal on my truck, so if I had to do this deal again I definitely would.

I'd buy a new TRD OR but might think about the LB that time around. Not that I have any complaints about the SB, but after driving a buddies DCLB the difference isn't nearly as much as I thought and that extra foot or so could come in handy at times. Oh and I might go with inferno instead of BBP, I really like that color for some reason.

Also, after seeing the absolute destruction some of these guys have walked away from, this truck seems pretty damn safe in an accident.

I'm also one of around 4 people on here with 0 complaints about my 3rd gen

Do tell.. I've been watching for some details but of course it seems to be mostly rumor and speculation in the media. Understandable that Toyota is being tight lipped.
The drivetrain updates are what peaks my interest the most - possibly a completely different entry level V8, and also tweaks to the 5.7 to make it more efficient/powerful (D4-S?). Oh and of course more gears in the tranny.

Last year I sold my 2004 Tacoma for the 2017 model. 14,000 miles and no regrets.

After owning it for almost a year and lightly modding it, probably not. Not a fan of the low end power. However it does improve with ETC PWR on. After riding in a friends dodge 2500 diesel, id rather fork out $5000 more for a 2014 diesel with 36k on it. Or go for a tundra. Tacoma is great, but just wasn’t exactly what I was looking for in the long run.

Yes, I love mine. It is a 2nd gen (2015).

I would be willing to get the exact same truck, but would also be fine with black for a color. Other than that, no complaints.

Never drove a 3rd gen, but I'm sure I would enjoy the improved mileage. I stay on-road and don't haul or tow very much. The reportedly "shifty" transmission is something I could probably live with, as well as the reported powerband/torque differences. I just don't dig the higher price, my same truck would probably approach $40k as a 3rd gen and I would probably give something else a serious look for that kind of money.

After my first week I'd buy my same exact truck again. I'd love manual, but realistically with the traffic I get caught in a few times a week it would not be fun. The other option I considered was a diesel Ram 1500, but I have heard those have their own problems and if I do any off road trails, I'd rather be in the Taco TBH. My only wish is that they would put in an engine with more torque down low. I came from a car that made 350 lb. ft. of torque at 1500 rpm so that is definitely something I miss a little bit.

I've had my truck since February (it's now April) and I would absolutely buy it again. I wish it was a different color, but it was the only OR left with 0% financing, so I got a great deal on it. I'd still do it all over again, because it's been a fantastic truck. Let's see how I feel a few years down the road though. But I feel like it's a truck that I never sell.

I would buy the exact same truck again. Had an 86 Toyota pickup, a 95 T100, one of the smaller Tundras (dont remember the year), a 2010 Tundra and a 13 Ridgeline. The 5 years i had the Ridgeline all i wanted was another Toyota. Have a 18 DCSB OR cement now and I'm staying with Toyotas

I personally love the tacoma but I wouldnt buy another one. Ive owned a 2013 and 2017 both manuals. I love them both but always seem to find my self need to tow upwards of 5000 lbs and honestly the tacoma is a poor choice for this being in the mountains.
