    Hello all.
I just bought a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road long bed.
I am going to put an Icon Stage 5, an ARE Z Series shell and a new front grill.

I am not a good wrench but a friend of mine with his 2015 TRD wanted me to ask for the both of us about overriding the traction control.
He heard that there is a kit or you can install a toggle switch that will override the traction control making the truck think it is still in four wheel drive low while overriding the traction control. Does anyone have any info on this?

PS: Thanks for the welcome tcBob!

    John

Press and hold the TC button for about 3 seconds, it turns traction control off on a 3rd gen. But since you mention 4x4 I’m thinking you mean something else.

Do you NEED a stage 5 kit yet? I know its addicting, I've been dreaming of lifting mine since I got it a year ago, BUT this truck stock is extremely capable. So if you haven't lifted yet or ordered the parts I would advise wheeling it first, you might surprise yourself with what it does and doesn't need to fit your needs.

Also why do you want to trick it to being in 4Lo? I know if you hold down traction control it will shut it off, not sure if that answers your question or not though.

Welcome John, to the greatest spectacle on Earth known as Tacoma World. I don't have an answer for your question, but I noticed something in your post that I thought I would make you aware of. You thanked tcbob. That's great btw, he is the man. But still not my point. Point is next time you want to get a members attention, use the @ symbol in front of their name. This will create a highlighted link in your post and will alert them to your post. Like this @tcBob. Just a little hint for the new guy. Hey we all had to learn the "lingo" of this place at some point. LOL.
