Have any of you tried Black Rifle Coffee Company? Their blends seem to fit my tastes and being veteran owned is a company would gladly support. I enjoy a strong, darkish cup of coffee but am a bit of a noob when it comes to making it great at home. I have a keurig but my go to is my stovetop 6 cup Bialetti Moka Pot.

Have been meaning to try some Black Rifle. I just have too much currently on hand to order. I used to subscribe to Modern Times monthly subscription. That was always good. I’ve been buying from a local-ish roaster. Their beans are ok.

I’ve got too many brewing devices. Aeropress, French press, chemex, bonavita dripper, a regular pour over. And of course my Encore Baratza conical burr grinder

Ok, I know this is from 2 years ago but..... I was just there a couple weeks ago. Haven't been on the island since I was a kid/teen. Our first stop off the ferry was the Roasterie, best coffee I have had in YEARS.

Yes! Great coffee. Haven't had it in a long time. Used to get a 10lbs. bag from them every 4 months or so. Loved the Artist Blend. One of the best coffee beans I have ever had.

I roast coffee beans by myself. I now use a deep pot and wooden spatula, though I used to use a popcorn popper. Since I do not have a fancy roasting machine, I cannot roast completely even. Having said that, I still love using the pot. It is any mechanical trouble free and I can see what is going on right away.

If you really want to drink good coffee, you should try to roast by yourself. Nothing can beat freshly roasted beans.

Had a good friend that did the same. He was very into coffee and said the same.
I have heard about the popcorn popper method. I actually have one.

The CAF from Black Rifle was amazing. Not so much in the taste, but the energy boost from drinking it. If I ever have a long day or drive ahead of me, that will be a brew to consider.

That’s the blend I ordered to try first. So I’m hoping to enjoy it in a few days.

Black Rifle is really good. They offer quite a bit of different blends. If you like really dark bold coffee check out Deathwish Coffee Company. I prefer them over BRCC but being veteran owned and a vet myself I’ll always support.

For brewing, google “aero press” or I think you can get the whole kit on Amazon for less than 30$. To me, it was the simplest and best tasting cup to brew. I’d bring my aero press on every deployment. A lot of coffee snobs out there will say that the aero press will actually eliminate a lot of the acidity levels in each cup which makes it an all around better cup and that keurigs are probably the worst you can use for brewing but of course it’s convenient

    Edit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0047BIWS...t=&hvlocphy=9001685&hvtargid=pla-315571604316

Anyone who really enjoys a great tasting cup of joe should look into this ^^

As long as you have an exhaust in the kitchen or have an outdoor stove top, you can roast beans. A popcorn popper works just fine. It was just not reliable for me. I had two and neither of them did not last long :-(

You can buy green beans from Sweet Maria, for example. They are about 1/3 - 1/2 price of the roasted beans.

    Here is what I use.

1 1/2 cup of green beans
    wooden spatula
pot (pan should work too, avoid Teflon coated one)
filter/mesh to separate coffee skin and coffee beans - I use a part of steamer that has many holes
    thick gloves

Takes only approx. 15 min to roast. Many youtube videos available.

You are welcome. I originally thought the roasting process is so complicated. Maybe difficult to master, but not hard to have fun with roasting.

One thing I would suggest to you is that, be careful not to have over-roasted beans too much when you roast. Up to 20%-ish dark beans are okay, but if too much dark beans, it would not taste like coffeeo_O

As you might know, many roasters suggest medium roast to taste the coffee better. I tend to agree with this suggestion, though I like dark roast too. It is probably better to have medium roast if you really like to taste the coffee. Plus, roasting for dark coffee is much harder. You really do not have much room to make errors.

    Good luck and have fun!

First off, thank you for your service! I am not a veteran but it is something I like to support when I have the option. Thanks for the link, I’ll have to check that aero press out for sure.
