Hey guys, this is my first post. Just joined the Tacoma family, got my first one last weekend.
I'm planning to buy a topper, sand it down, prime it and then repaint it to match the color of my Tacoma. Here's my truck:

    Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 8.57.35 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 8.57.41 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 8.57.53 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 8.58.00 PM.jpg

The truck was originally white but had been painted by the previous owner that traded it into the dealer I bought it from. Based off what I've researched, it looks like the color is Azure Blue Pearl (Color Code 8L6). Got this from here: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/toyota/1997/4runner/?code=8L6

Anyone have any tips on how to match the paint other than just winging it and buying paint from this site in hopes that it matches? I might just end up going with black or white instead but think it would look pretty good to match it with the baby blue color.

Any and all help appreciated, thanks guys!

Nice truck! I was looking at that truck a week or two ago on autotrader. I would've probably bought it if it weren't so far from Texas.

Thanks! Found it on autotrader as well. Was looking for a Tacoma for about a couple weeks, saw that one and was lucky enough to grab it right away. Flew down from Wyoming, picked it up and had a nice road trip back up over the weekend. Starter went out in SLC on the drive back tho :( had to fix it in an O'Reiley's parking lot on Sunday night.

That's always my worry when buying something used from far away and driving it back.

Congratulations on your new truck, looks really nice. As to your paint question, You may want to stop off at a couple of auto paint shops and see if they can ID the color or have a color match service. Lowes does this with paint colors all the time --OK, OK you may not buy your paint at Lowes but their computer color sampling technique is the same. Also try an Auto Paint Distributor ( PPG, Sherwin-Williams, BASF etc, heck even Eastwoods is a possibility)
A color matched toper would look very cool. Good Luck

Thanks! After doing more research today this was the same conclusion I came to. Bringing it in to an auto paint supply store tomorrow and hope they can match it as best possible with their camera. Either way, I Think anything in the same ball park will look pretty nice.
