I need alittle advise on what to do next if someone out there has had this problem and had to go through what I’m going through. I have a 2017 Tacoma trd off road dc , at 700 miles one of the valve cover sensors started to leak and smoked out my exhaust manifold , it went in and was fixed , at 2500 miles it did the same on the freeway and went immediately to the dealership , and was fixed again , the 3rd time it went the truck had 8500 miles and the dealership had to tear down the whole motor removing the heads and replacing every gasket and cam perched on the passenger side and replacing the head gaskets , well at 13,000 miles it did it again , I’m fed up with the truck and as you well know the dealership acts like it’s no big deal and kinda has a attitude about it , I called Toyota and started the process of making a claim to buy back the vehicle , I also contacted a lawyer and said I should have started these procedures on the 3rd time this happened , and one more thing , this tells you how fucked up susburban Toyota is in Troy mi, my blind spot monitor has been acting haywire since the truck was new , well it said it was unavailable again , they blame it on the leveling kit I installed last year and wanted 400 bucks to recalibrate it , I reminded them again that it did it way before I added the leveling kit , the rear parking Sensors have never acted up and have been fine throughout my ownership , anyone been through this please let me k is what the outcome was and how hard I’m going to have to fight with Toyota to get this resolved , no smart ass comments please

You have a lawyer, you started lemon procedures, you will be successful

Your biggest worry and next steps should be shopping for your next vehicle

    Good luck

Thankyou , the lemon lawyer has not got involved yet due to Toyota’s 30 day investigation and he wants to see what they are going to do . I have to exhaust all avenues with Toyota then he will take over , with the 2018 Tacoma’s have they had any problems of this kind with the new ones ?

I am well versed in how the process works. I was in house counsel for 17 years at Toyota dealing with manufacturing defects (buy back claims) of those 8 years.

Be diligent. Everything in writing. Your truck will be bought back, given the issues you described in your original post.

No idea with 2018 problems. My 17 PRO has been bulletproof for 63k miles

    Good luck.

Love it. It’s my favorite truck. 6MT + Fox is perfect for my Starbucks run. Ride is compliant. Looks great. Gives 18-38 year old men a hard on. I had a 16 OR as well and I like my Pro $8,300 better.

Lmao , that’s awesome , well you talked me into the trd pro , I love the Tacoma’s no matter what , even with the problems I’ve had with this truck I’m still not upset , the quality of the ride and the over all quality of the build is awesome , this is my 3rd Tacoma , I should have never sold my 2010 off road but I have twins so the sienna se was the optimal choice , but that’s gone now lol and we went back to the Tacoma !!!!! Thanks for your input and hopefully I will be driving a pro very soon !!!!what color is yours ?

Best thing I've read on TW

OP... You're down the correct path, sorry for your issues but it's clearly an anomaly. Best of luck with a quick resolution and hopefully you'll be in a Pro in no time

Here in Mass that's three strikes...lemon law...rare but it happens. Make an appointment to talk to the dealerships owners in person. Use actual letters to correspond (snail mail) as well. Be, clear, organized (make a clear timeline and receipts) and persistent, and suggest they may want to be thinking about replacing the entire vehicle as the next step, which they won't do but they will begin to feel you mean it. Talk to a second dealership who may want to do the warranty work and your good graces. Sorry man, I've had no issues whatsoever, but my 96' Sienna went through $2200 in sensors in 5 years before I dumped it.
