Perfect cycling weather for me is.not a truck to drive and no one to call for ride.

 

Thanks for the tips, yea i did go back to check yours out thats what made me think to add more bearings near the front lol I can definitely relate to the bearings not being exactly straight, They look perfect when I look down the board but I can clearly see that a few are bearing the majority of the weight, about how much play do you have between the aluminum and the sidewalls?

 

Clamp a level to the sides and butt the bearings up to it.

 

My DS upper CV axle boot is shot and throwing grease everywhere. Can't fix right now. Can I go a couple weeks with the boot torn? Is it still OK missing some of that grease?

I wanna refurb/replace the CV axle and steering rack all in one shot.

 

Will not hurt it. Just make more of a mess.

 

Daily drove my truck like that for a few weeks without issue, replaced with CVJ axles afterwards

@HolyHandGrenade and @Nimble9 What boot options did you choose when you ordered the CVJ axles? High angle silicone or OEM?

 

You’ll hear clicking over time and it’ll get looser as time goes on. Your probably good for a while. In the Bronx it’s the norm.

 

High angle inner. OEM outer.

Steering rack and CV axle have exactly what in common? Replacing a CV is an hour job max.

 

Just wanna do all of it plus other front end stuff on the same weekend while the truck is up on stands.

It's called efficiency.

Nobody will respond to you in this thread. I asked about maxtrax vs treds but nobody in here is “expo” or “overland” enough to understand I guess. The older versions of those China trax got good reviews so hopefully theses would only be better

The dump truck photos seem photoshopped. There is no way a tyre that dirty can go over clean black plastic and it still be so clean afterwords

I’ve got the Chinese MAXSA boards. My perception is they suck. I’ve never owned the expensive ones though so maybe they all suck? The ones I have aren’t grippy and melted on last use.

 

I believe we’ve been around this loop before in here. There’s a proper and improper way to use traction boards. They aren’t magic.. it takes effort and some thinking to properly set them. I have some burnt nubs as well on my TREDs from improper use.
