Roof rack spare mount

Any ideas for or against mounting a 33” spare on roof racks? Looking for feedback from ppl who had it for a while. I’m trying to figure out the best place to put the spare. Rear swing is ideal but too costly for me now.

Throw it in the bed. I use to have mine strapped down sitting veritical. Safe the money and get dual swing outs.

Roof is kinda a pain. I’d stand it up at the front of the bed.

Any particular reason you don’t want to put it in stock location?

 

Anyway it could fit in the original spot under the bed?

 

You can cut off the tabs that might not let it go to the stock location

 

Yeah you can just hammer those tabs back pretty easily and it should fit in stock location.

 

Wow didn’t know that was an option! Done.

 

That's a heavy and awkward thing to put up there...be easy to scuff up the roof or side of the truck getting it on or off.

I guess cost is a relative thing, but these are awesome in my opinion, and easy to move to different vehicles. I have a MAX and it’s a great platform.

 

Don't cut them. Just hammer them up and out of the way. If you want you can also re-position the spare tire hoist assembly. I have 285/75/16 tucked up underneath.

Huh I hadn't seen these before, really cool. Just what I need though...another reason to spend $600 lol
