Wasn't sure where this would belong, so Mods you can move it if there's a better forum...didn't notice a body section.

    :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

Ugh, my poor baby. Wife and I made a quick trip to a nearby lake for a couple hours of kayaking. Long story short, she jack-knifed the trailer in reverse. (I told her to take the truck instead of walking to the restroom. Told her not to reverse, there's plenty of room to U-turn....*sigh*) My wife feels absolutely sick. I do, too, about the truck AND her.

    Truck is a 2011 DCSB.

Anyway, first off: what's the official name for the plastic fender-thingy around the wheel well? That has a deep cut and I'm hoping I might be able to find one of those online.

Secondly: The bumper looks fine and is not dented that I saw, only a little black scratch.

Third: I tried to pound out some of the large dent and think I got a little bit of it, but it still looks awful. Any guesses as to how much a shop would hit me on for the work? I'm trying to avoid filing a claim w/insurance to keep the rates from going up, but if I must, I must.

So much for that new kayak I was about to pull the trigger on... :sadviolin:

The bedside just bolts on. There's lots of silver Tacos out there. Just find a used bed side and bolt it on.

That's not very bad. Looks like it has a crease so most likely wont be able to just pop it out but to be honest, take it to a good paint less dent repair guy and see what he can do. Probably $200 and you won't really be able to tell unless you look close after a good wax and a little touch up. The fender flares are everywhere. Get one off of Craigslist or Ebay. Make sure you get one for the bed you have though. The long/short beds are different. Take the rear cubby out of the bed. You can remove the actual compartment then you will have lots of access to get behind it. If you take that flare off and the cubby out I bet a good PDR guy could do pretty good with that. All in with a used flare, $450.

Ok, I have a friend who's a mechanic in town, so I'll see if he knows a good PDR guy. I've already been looking online for the side panel as @Muddinfun (thanks!) suggested. I found a video on how to replace the bed side. Looks simple enough.

Just a PITA I really didn't want to deal with right now. :frusty:

A drugged up attorney hit me in the exact same spot. He paid for a wrap around bumper and covered it up.
You can go high clearance as well.

Better make it a flat bed with a gooseneck...that sucks though but shouldn’t be to bad to get repaired.

I was quoted 750 by the other ladies insurance then 1050 by the body shop I want to use. Yours looks worse than mine. If you don't need it 100% I'm sure you can do it for much cheaper.

Thanks guys. Good ideas and giving me hope. My search for the panel online hasn't been good so far.

I would like it to be back to 100% because, sadly, I'm probably going to upgrade to a full size truck in the next couple of years.

At a hockey game now so the search is off for a bit! Have a great night!

Does anyone know what the plastic piece/trim around the wheel well is called?

Ebay was a no-go. Couldn't find any bed sides. If any of you guys have better Google-Fu skills, go for it! I'm going to call around to some body and PDR shops tomorrow.

It you find a nice bedside, it will have a fender flare on it. I would keep looking for a bedside, even if you have drive a couple hundred miles.

You might want to post a WTB add in the for sale section. I am sure the parts you need are laying around someone's garage.

    Have you tryed car-part.com yet?

I doubt you'll find bedsides on ebay. Not exactly an easy thing to ship.
